ac1962 Posted December 26, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 26, 2011 Is a platform conductor a usual pick or only if they need them all of a sudden?
Eric B Posted December 26, 2011 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2011 I think it's both a pick job; plus they use restricted conductors as well.
Pablo M 201 Posted December 27, 2011 Share #3 Posted December 27, 2011 Only restricted personnel can pick a platform job. If a platform job is open, and no restricted personnel is available, then they'll assign the job to a road qualified person, depending if the spot really needs to be filled or not. TwoTimer Posted December 27, 2011 Share #4 Posted December 27, 2011 The ones at Grand Central are picked jobs for restricted personnel. When none is available, they use other types of restricted personnel (like T/O's restricted for incident investigation). None available there, then they go usually to probationary C/Rs (which is one way how to get in trouble, as you're in management haven in the public eye, lateness isn't tolerated and the uniform must be EXACTLY to bulletin specifications). Dan05979 Posted December 28, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2011 Platform is not as bad as i thought. I happend to do it one day with my classmate so the 8 hours flew by and a track fire incident ate up alot of time. Just have to deal with some of the dumbest questions in the world.....like one girl asked me if any of the payphones on the platform were working....uhuh.
