Who Is Your Favorite Current And All-Time Bus Manufactuer?

EE Broadway Local

Top Spot: New Flyer. Their buses age well, even asthetically. They are best looking buses on the road, build quality is excellent, and overall they just have a great ride.

2nd Place: NABI. Before I didn't like this company but now the look of their buses have grown on me. The overall quality of their buses have greatly improved, especially their current 2011/12 editions, and their Metro 45C CompoBus is top notch.

I actually like the New Flyer Industries better than Nova! I put Nova there because I like +Select Bus Service+

Let me see:

Novabus Plant!

Pros:

- The quality check is alright! (+5)

- Their interior lighting is alright! (+5)

- Excellent Performance on some buses! (+5)

- They make low floor bus better than high floors! (+5)

- Their LFS are alright, but not the RTS! (+4)

- They make buses quiet! (+5)

- They make articulated buses better than any other bus manufacturers! (+5)

- I like the big door on the front of the LFS! (+5)

- The way that manufacture the bus is not bad! (+5)

- Excellent interior design! (+5)

- The windows are big so it's easy to see through! (+5)

Cons:

- Bus shakes a lot and is loud while they hit on bumps. (-4)

- Their buses are not so spacious, less standing. (-3)

- The ZF is smooth, but jerks and the brakes are horrible on the 40ft. LFS. (-3)

- The Carrier HVAC served on the LFS aren't good enough! (-2)

Total Points (out of 50): 43/50

  • 4 weeks later...

Current: Bristol Commercial Vehicles. Not widely know in the US, these buses are what most Americans think of when the phrase "London bus" pops up. I found an abandoned Bristol bus near my home:

Illustrated History for SRU982

All-time: Like others have said, New Flyer. The NFs running on the Cincinnati Metro lines are clean, efficient, pleasing to the eye, and comfortable. Though there is something to be said for the old-school, faux-veneered, blue-gridded-seat retro-ness of the Gilligs on the same line, the New Flyers run circles around them.

They've also started to convert a LOT of them to hybrids...I wish I had kept a tally of which buses I rode so I could determine whether or not my favorite buses are now hybrids!
