Did EBT hire inter county drivers? (If hired) did the drivers who came over from Inter County retain their runs or are these EBT on these runs?

I have no idea, I would believe that they would have hired ICMC if any applied but I have no way of knowing how the transition went over there. I would also believe that all routes would have to go up for drivers to pick, but again I have know knowledge of how such a change would go.

 

A friend said that he saw 8002 on the S63 yesterday and he believed that the driver was originally from EBT.

 

Yesterday EBT put 8002 and 1045 on the S63, and 1006, 1009, 5056 on the S54 (I don't know the other buses used for the S54), though 1046 replaced 5056.

I think things have settled down a little, but thats my guess. I heard that 8004 seems to be regularly assigned to the S54 now.

 

What it probably was, was with EBT having to hire new drivers (maybe ex Inter-County drivers) they couldn't assign buses as the use to since some drivers didn't have training on or experience with some buses. I mean no driver except ones that have been with EBT would have had any training or experience with the 2008 Gillig Advantage BRT's, so those buses couldn't have been assigned to just anyone. And with Veteran EBT drivers probably picking routes that they never had before, it was probably a strain to assign buses.

 

I bet though when all the new drivers are trained on the buses they had no training on then bus assignments will probably go back to how they were before the change, unless Suffolk decides diffrent, like assigning 40ft buses to the S54 instead of the S33 where the two 40 buses ICMC had were assigned to.

I would scrap #9940 until you hear otherwise.

 

I did in the second version I just posted, I kept the mention about it up to encase I was wrong and if someone saw it and then saw the roster and saw that I had it retired end up thinking they saw things and possibly not come forward to say that they had seen it.

Can anyone explain to me what the S21,S74,1C, and 9A routes were

 

 

The S74 use to be a Summer Only route that went from Smith Haven Mall to Smith Point Beach with a stop at Coarm Plaza. The route was started by Coram Bus Service (who had to ask for funding from The County) before the County took over operations of the bus lines. It was discontinued around 1998 because of low ridership and budget cuts.

 

The S21 went from Sunrise Mall to Walt Whitman Mall Via NYS 109 and NYS 110.

 

The 9A (run by Sunrise Coach Inc) went from Mattituck to Orient Point Via back roads unlike the S92, and was discontined in 1990 because of budget cuts.

 

The 1C went from Copiague to Amityville and was discontinued in 1990 because of budget cuts.

When was the S21 discontinued and why? Same reasons as the other routes, I would think that route would get decent tidership.

 

The S21 was cut some time in the late 80's I believe, I can't find any info on it (I didn't know it existed except for a post on here that said the route was on the LIB map up until an early 1990's copy). The 1C and 9A were cut in 1990 (they were two of about ten or so routes that were to have been axed), and the S74 I believe in 1997 or 1998.

Um....Coram Yard? There bringing buses back?

 

 

The old United Bus Corp yard that Suffolk Transportation Service took over a few years ago. They expanded it to make it like some type of hub short of like their Ronkonkoma and Bay Shore yards. Also Suffolk Transportation picked up a few contracts in the area with Atlantic Express pulling out of that area which probably helped necessitate the expansion. 

 

The expansion of the Coram yard was mentioned on News 12 a few weeks ago.

Wow, the S58 has the entire Yard and its 2 buses to itself.

 

There's more buses than that as I've been told there's about 10 buses there. And as far as routes not just the S58, they have the 5A, S71, S76, S60/69, and some S62 runs. Some routes, including the S58, may share depots. The S110 Clipper may also be at Coram, as I saw a Clipper Bus heading into the yard from Rt.112 the other night. It's a very small operation, and basically it's mostly all the former CBS buses that are back there. And they only have 1 spare bus, 9908, sometimes they have to use Clipper buses as spares, but according to my friend there those are very tired. According to some drivers, many feel this was done to put the former CBS Routes "Back Where they Belong".
