1800s run number box question

Recommended Posts

Run 01? Is that the run at around 1:00 am out of Jamaica?

No, I think the run setup is Run 6 on the N6...and the 01 stands for the direction, I am not 100% sure on this however.

I have no idea lol

I took this at 6:04AM. Maybe the first N6 out if Hempstead?

No, the N6 runs 24/7 lol

Hi all --

From my days @ MSBA, I can tell you that 0601 run is the first N6 Hawk -- all runs were sequentially coded from their report time after 12:01 a.m. -- the routes back in the day had a code to them like this:

2101 ~ the first straight (non-split) run on Northern Blvd, weekday schedule

2120 ~ the first split run on Northern Blvd, weekday schedule (and many splits ran multiple routes, so if it was a 21 suffix, the first route was Northern Blvd, next part could be a different route altogether).

2161 ~ the first straight run on Northern Blvd, Saturday Schedule

1670 ~ the first (and only) split on N16, Saturday schedule (very few splits on Saturday schedule, none on Sunday at least @ Mitchell Field)...

2181 ~ the first straight run on Northern Blvd, Sunday schedule (same true for major holidays).

Hope this helps all -- and I hope that NICE works out, still have friends working for MSBA . LI Bus / NICE... miss the job sometimes, but not NY...
