Yuki, the top picture of what you call Engine 595, is actually called a Quint. A Quint serves the dual purpose of an engine and a ladder truck. It can serve as a engine company and pump water on a fire or it can act as a ladder company and do truck work, depending on the call or what is needed. So it actually Quint 595, but it could be assigned to one of that departments Engine companies.

Yes its a Quint but some fire departments will run them either as just a straight engine (pumper) or a truck (ladder). So it all comes down to what that department wants to call it.

Most departments (or at least out in Suffolk) call them Quints no matter what company they are assigned to or as far as I can tell. I have yet to hear anyone refer to a Quint as a Engine, even if it was assigned to a Department's Engine company and regularly did Engine work.

However I've seen someone write down that rig that Yuiki shot as Q595, which was what I was trying to point out, I wasn't trying to point out what a Quint was. Now if that department assigned that Quint to their Engine Company or Ladder Company I don't know.

I said most departments in Suffolk, Mississauga isn't in Suffolk County, I never said that everywhere refered to then as Quints. However how do you know that the person that wrote the description has any knowledge about what truck was. I mean most people not affiliated or with no knowledge about a fire department call an engine a pumper.

Huntington Manor Welcome to : Huntington Manor Fire District&Welcome to : Huntington Manor Fire District (even though they say Ladder after the unit number, they still call it a Qunit in the description of the Appuratus.)

Seatuket FD also refers to their Quint as Quint 2.

West Islip FD "3-17-2 is a 2010 Pierce 75' Quint with a 1750 GPM side mount pump It is our primary response vehicle for FAST Team and M/A alarms for Vanguard Engine Company. It has a 500 Gallon booster tank and a full compliment of ground ladders. It is set and equipped to function as an engine or a ladder.http://www.firecompanies.com/MFC/public/appartusfiles/10477/01290749777.jpg and

"3-17-5 is a 2002 Pierce Quint/SkyBoom. It is built on a custom chassis and was built to better fit the needs of the community during the daytime hours,........is also equipped with extrication equipment. It has a portable generator with a Hurst combination spreader/cutter, and airbags to help free a victim from an automobile accident. It also serves as the primary response vehicle for Mohawk, on all mutual aids, as it is set up for "Rapid Intervention Team" or FAST capabilities." http://www.firecompanies.com/MFC/public/appartusfiles/10477/01290750157_th.jpg

Now we have strayed way off topic, if there is anything more you want to talk to me about PM me.
