Seventeen of 22 subway lines throughout Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx will experience disrupted service because of construction work. Lines affected include the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, D, E, F, G, J, N, Q, R and S. Courtesy of a new weekday pilot program called “Fast Track,” an overnight blitz of repair work on the affected lines will last through Wednesday." Princelex Posted January 8, 2012 Share #11 Posted January 8, 2012 The media has made this look more puzzling than it is. There is ALWAYS construction in the subways on the weekends. The Fastrack stuff is the shutting down of big, major portions of a whole subway line on the weeknights. In fact, starting on Monday, the & trains will be the first line to do Fastrack. From Monday the 9th till Friday the 13th, the Lex line will be closed from Grand Central to Atlantic Ave in both directions from 10pm -5am those nights. Other lines will get it later this year. Be on the lookout for the announcements on the trains about that, especially on the New Tech Trains. That is seperate from the weekend stuff, as far as I know. "Fasttrack GO's" is being created on the major Manhattan coordior lines i.e Lex/east side, 7th/west side, 8th Ave/CPW and 6th Ave so that it lessens the need for major reroutes on weekends on these busy coordiors. Weekends is the fastest growing ridership area in the current system. Please the fasttrack has nearby alternative as well in Manhattan. How in the world would they be able to send to Eastern Parkway? Not only it's different division(BMT vs IRT), there is no track connection of any type in the area. If the is completely suspended north of PP, it does not connect to the Brooklyn IRT [at Atlantic or Botanic Garden, which of course is quite unconventional since it would have to switch to the BMT Franklin line tracks]. The old phrase 'if it bleeds it leads' is a true motto in today's sensationalism media. When was the last time you heard about 'good news' at the top of the newscast?:cool: So the endless weekend/overnight construction on the NYCTA subway system is an example of that. In this POS they call a report they actually state that the ( is one of the few lines that doesn't have planned weekend construction work! (It's on the main article, where it says "Alex Silverman With Straphangers At Grand Central") I mean, do they even bother to check which lines run and which don't??? They couldn't care less. Instead of focusing on real problems, including transit related ones, they instigate complains about subway construction..
