New MTA chief Joe Lhota talks about the agency's future - am New York

Let's just wait and see is my comment. Personally, T think that people's perception of the (MTA) is mainly influenced by the media, so that'll be quite hard to fix. Also, besides the image of the authority, there are lots of other issues I hope he's aware of...

Well Joe is a local guy,and rides what he is now head of. So he knows first hand what needs to be done. Lets see where it goes, the media runs the MTA image, like it does most other things today. Intersting analogy of the Hong Kong system being brand spankin new, and the NYC Subway being 100 yrs old...... How true!

Thanks!

He was on Fox 5 this morning. Seems like a good guy and perhaps the union may like him as well. He says he wants to see cleaner subway stations which is certainly needed and the peeling paint is certainly an eye sore which he himself said.

This (and the fact that it runs 24/7) is what most people forget when they complain about the system being dirty, decrepit, and in constant need of repair.
