Gorgor Posted January 27, 2012 Share #108 Posted January 27, 2012 How are the (M11) and (M15) related - Both use one way streets for the majority of their routes, with a two way street on one end - The M34A runs alongside them for about a half mile (9th Ave and 2nd Ave) - On one side, each of them has their own terminal off of the main street. (M15 SBS, not local) - Both serve the outskirts of Midtown - Neither have a subway route close enough to call it an alternative How were the M30 and X92 related? Gorgor Posted January 27, 2012 Share #110 Posted January 27, 2012 Both were eliminated due to their duplication of other routes Actually they were both eliminated due to "budget cuts." The M30 certainly didn't have any alternatives other than taking three buses instead, and the X90 had no alternatives that require much more walking and a longer commute time. checkmatechamp13 Posted January 27, 2012 Share #113 Posted January 27, 2012 Actually they were both eliminated due to "budget cuts." The M30 certainly didn't have any alternatives other than taking three buses instead, and the X90 had no alternatives that require much more walking and a longer commute time. M30 riders only had to take 2 buses, not 3. * If you're near York Avenue and have to go to 57th Street, you can take the M31 * If you're along 72nd Street, you can take the M72. * If you're going from 72nd Street to 57th Street, you could take a north-south bus down to the M31/M57 * If you're going from 5th/Madison Avenue to a destination along 57th Street or 72nd Street, you could take a bus to the crosstown street you want and then transfer. And the X90 had the M31 to the M20, or the M15 to the M22 (it adds a ton of travel time, but very little walking time) -Both end near the City Line-Ends at Little Neck Parkway ((Q46) 260st Bound) -Runs across Queens horizontally for the majority of their direction of the route. Last post and then let's get back on topic, but I have to respond with this. According to HopStop, if I were to walk from my house to the World Financial Center, it would only take about 10 more minutes than if I were to take the M31 to the M20.
