M23 and M42:

-Crosstown Routes

-Quill Routes

-Terminate at Piers on their West end

-Terminates near major landmarks on their East end (United Nations and Stuyvesant Town)

-Turn around using 1 Av, FDR Drive and the nearest street to the South of their namesake streets

M8 and M21

- Crosstown Routes

- Quill Routes

- Weekend Service eliminated in 2010

- Terminate at a park on their East end

- Both connect to IRT Local lines, but not their express counterparts.

Relate the Q53 and Q113. They have a lot in common.

The (Q53) and (Q113)

Both have limited stop service

Both have a local supplement route

Both operate to the Rockaway Peninsula

Both had restructurings on the limited sections of their routes

Both never got impacted by any service cuts

Q53 and Q113

Both have Limited service

Both run to the Rockaways

Both have the Ex-Bee Line Orion 5s

Both run in a North-South orientation

Both are obviously ex-PBL routes

I ran out of routes to think of to compare for the meantime so someone else can go.

* I'm pretty sure both come out of Castleton.

* Both go south out of St. George

* Both are an alternative to a local route that was affected by the June 2010 reductions (S51 is an alternative to the northern section of the S76, and the S52 is an alternative to the S42)

* Both connect to the X1

* Both intersect the SIR (though in the case of the S52, not at a station) at a point other than St. George (the S52 passes over the SIR in the Park Hill area, and the S51 passes over it at Grant City. The S52 also is within walking distance of the SIR by the Stapleton station, but it doesn't actualy intersect it)

Relate the S61 and Q5

Relate the (Bx29) and the (Q100)

Both provide service to a small island.

Both had a express line along their route (Bx29 > BxM7B; Q100 > QM22)

Both terminate with an interborough non-express route (Q100 > (B62); Bx29 > (Bx12))

Both were spun off other services (Bx29 > Bx12; Q100 > Q101)

Both serve an IRT train (Bx29 > (6); Q100 > (7))

How are the MTA's S92 and SCT's S92 related?

Bx29 & Q100

- They both travel to an "island"

- They both serve an area with "plaza" in the name (bay plaza, queensboro plaza, respectively)

- They both have/had [express routes that run/ran parallel to them that saw reductions in their service]

- They both connect to an intercounty local route

- They both run in the Bronx !

S92 (suffolk) & S92 (SI)

- They both terminate at a ferry

- They both terminate at rail station

- They both pass by a golf course

- They both connect to "S62's" (yes, I know the 92 is a LTD counterpart of the 62...)

- They both run by county offices

Q34 and Q103:

- MTA Bus Company Routes

- Weekdays only

- Southbound terminal is at a subway station

- Has trips terminating at a (7) station

- One terminal is in the exact same spot as two other routes (Jamaica LIRR and Hell's Gate respectively)

Can't think of two routes for comparison.

I'll go then.

Not including connections to other bus routes and subway lines... compare the M5 and M10

Both are based from Manhattanville

Both routes run Orion VII Hybrids

Both routes run go to Columbus Circle

Both routes terminate near or at a subway station on both ends

Both are interborough routes

Both come from West Farms

Both connect with the (M2) and (M3)

  • 2 weeks later...
- They both terminate at a mall

- They both parallel a route who's route number is only 1 "number" higher near where they terminate (Q47->Q48 @ LGA, Q21->Q22 @ Arverne)

- They both recently got extended

- They both pass by a cemetery (the same one if I'm not mistaken)

- They both connect to the QB local lines (albeit at different locations)

How are the x10 & the x28 alike ?

Yes, both pass by St John's Cemetery

Starting this again....

How are the S52 and S66 related?

One fact is they were rerouted on 2010 to replace part of another route affected by cuts.

Both serve hilly areas.

Both come out of Castleton.

Both used to run 7 days a week (the S52 still does)

Both connect to the S53.

(And the obvious) Both serve St. George.

Pass.

They are both Castleton routes

They both terminate at the St. George Ferry Terminal

They both have generally low ridership

As mentioned, both were affected by the June 2010 service changes

That's all I can think of.......

Can't think of any two routes to compare.

Never mind. checkmatechamp got it before me.
