keysersoze 0 Posted June 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 27, 2008 Alright guys, so I promised to show you some of the stuff I recorded during my recent stay in NYC. I'll start off today with a little work train special, so sit back and enjoy! On June 10, 2008, ballast tamper TP-238 passes through Ditmas Ave (Culver Line): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qImz0iwtQ1o&fmt=18 It was work train galore at Pacific St (4th Avenue Line) at around 11:45 pm on June 9, 2008. First, Loco 895 (GE, 1983) pushes crane car 266 into the tunnel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBlSewKtbWk&fmt=18 Follow-up is a redbird work train with R33 cars 9330, 8834, 8835, 9331. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lv_j5JPZlY&fmt=18 And last, Loco 54 (GE, 1967) brings crane car 260: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2Bv26M8HHk&fmt=18 I was also really lucky with the garbage trains this time; caught 4 of them within a week! B) A good catch was a mixed R38 & R33-redbird garbage train at 125th St and 59th St (8th Ave Line): lead cars R38 #4113/4112 and R33 redbird #9339, cars in the back R33 redbirds #9337/9343. Note route "I" on the flipdot sign of the R38. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbmiBcd7O-g&fmt=18 I saw another mixed R38 & R33-redbird consist at 2nd Ave-Lower East Side on the evening of June 9, 2008. Lead car unknown, 2nd car #9315, cars in the back #9345 (R33 redbird) and #4115/4114 (R38). There's also an R40 garbage train, which I saw at Church Ave (IND) on June 13th. Lead cars R40M #4488/4489, back cars R40 Slants #4282/4283. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhCTbMU5RuI&fmt=18 Last of the garbage trains sat at track 1 of Times Square (on the ) at exactly midnight of June 13/June 14. 2 R62 lead cars in the front, 2 more R62 cars in the back. Only car number noted is #1999.

R33WF SLC 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Share #14 Posted June 29, 2008 Those photographs are amazing. Really nice finds. i love the Redbird and R38 coupled up together. B) Does the MTA plan on changing the Redbird's livery to the bumblebee work train colors, or maintain them in their revenue colors?
R32 3348 11 Posted June 29, 2008 Share #15 Posted June 29, 2008 Wow you got really lucky. I have yet to see a garbage or work train. You can easily find them if you stay at 71st Street - Forest Hills, 179th Street, or the on G.O.s. Other places they're pretty rare.
7LineFan 256 Posted June 29, 2008 Share #16 Posted June 29, 2008 Those photographs are amazing. Really nice finds. i love the Redbird and R38 coupled up together. B) Does the MTA plan on changing the Redbird's livery to the bumblebee work train colors, or maintain them in their revenue colors? Well the R33WF cars have kept their revenue red color (and should- who knows, maybe hook 'em up for a special in the future), but the R33/36ML trains were painted yellow...
