NICE Planned Service/Schedule Changes

Recommended Posts

They should really just either bring back the (old, pre-loop) n2 with a few adjustments, or expand the Flexi to middays and Saturdays. It's absurd how the bus pulls in those numbers while running only minibuses and during the peak period.

NICE adjusted the Flexi to service LIJ-Valley Stream and increased peak hour service, then purchased newer Minibuses.

That's not what I was referring to...

NICE eliminated most of their superfluous routes except for the Mercy Shuttle, Flexi, and n80. The n80 gets far too much usage among Amazon workers, and people working out of Bethpage to be cut.

That's still not what I meant...

The old CEO eliminated the Superfluous routes when it became apparent that Manago wasn't going to pay for the buses, and PinePower stopped going to the events with and making written speeches.

Look carefully.

NICE keeps a lot of the designations for internal purposes. The n22a still run as n22 to Roosevelt Field or n22 to Mineola Intermodal. The n40/41 is really the n40. NICE uses Clever Devices, they just change things up a bit every now and again.

I took ride on 8:45am n16J NCC Express and remember the route it took.

How was the ride and ridership?

Last time i used Braddock Ave it sucked because the signals were out of sync.

The fleet was recently changed to larger buses, and rerouted over to LIJ. The old circulator route didn't really serve any points of interest. It gets decent usage among HHAs in the area.

Nassau Buses have been smooth enough that the HHAs are talking loud on the n35 about how they can't do the 3 buses to 1 destination for their client. Overheard two of them talking on the n35 to Baldwin on Sunday.

How have the passenger counters been helping with planning and insight?

They've been operating out of HTC, and Roosvelt Field at certain points.

I also heard that the n6 is at 18000 riders due to the recent stop movements at Hillside/168th

They still have human passenger counters?

Is 18,000 an increase or decrease in ridership?

Yes, the human passenger counters operate out of Hempstead Transit Center

18,000 is an increase in ridership. Old CEO loved to brag about how the n6 got 14,000 riders.

  • Thanks 1

Wait, they use 40 footers on that route now?

What happened at Hillside and 168th? I walked down there recently and didn't see the stop.

The stop has been consolidated with the Q1/Q43 stand. That long line that usually wraps around 168th and Hillside are patrons waiting for the n1 and n6x

Interesting, has the move increased ridership on the N1 trips from Jamaica?

I think there's high demand for the n1 to Jamaica, but it's still the invisible route along Elmont Road.

Also noticing high usage on Sunday Mornings.

Do you mean because of the route's headway?

n1: Heavy usage on Central from Stuart to Valley Stream Rail Road Station, Light on Elmont Road during off peak hours.

Elmont Flexi: Gets more usage on Meacham Ave, with Rockaway Ave at Merrick and Green Acres being most used stops

Ah that makes sense. Elmont road is short enough to be walkable. Instead of waiting for the next bus,  Or they can walk to the to the Q4.

Flexi usage makes sense too, thats basically how the N2's ridership was.

It's across street on SE side due to construction.
