on N20 route, when you come to the city line  ( Greenwood St & Northern Blvd) you see big sign nyc law: speed limit 25 mph. But i like a bus driver who drives fast, he or she knows us passengers have to connect to other bus routes.

I think that sign made for residental street, not for Northern Blvd. Also on school zone, speed limit is 25mph.

In Long Island and Westchester County you can turn right on red light after complete stop, but not bus drivers and unless sign stays "NO TURN ON RED", but most of motorists keep honking at bus operator to make right turn on red because they not aware buses are not allowed to turn at red light.

Also n20 and n21 are also slow down at Great Neck's U-turn roadway in front of Natural Organic Market where irresponsable shoppers block the space where buses had to make wide U-turn.

Also just line when n23 is making right turn from northbound Willis Av to eastbound Warner Av, where most of motorists on westbound don't read sign that states "STOP HERE ON RED" because buses and trucks have to make wide right turn.

It's similar situation when southbound M98 bus on northbound Amsterdam Av making right turn onto Harlem River Drive South in Manhattan, or South Ferry-bound M15 bus on eastbound Pike St making right turn on Madison St where constantly bad drivers ignores "STOP HERE ON RED"

Why aren't buses allowed to turn right on a red light on Long Island?

It may have to do with the bus' turning radius being bigger than that of a car, and needs more space. If buses were allowed to turn on red, especially onto a narrow road, it would obstruct several lanes of traffic (including even the other side).

Famous, I read the sign fine on northern & greenwood ( city line ) it says "NYC law is speed limit is 25 mph"

Unless otherwise posted, so if a street in nyc doesn't have speed sign than the speed limit is 25 mph.

Also N20 appear to slow down when they enter the city line which makes the trip into queens longer

Not all NYC Roadways are 25mph. Most of Long Island motorists wouldn't read the sign and they don't even slow down.

I'm sure Northern Blvd is not part of 25mph. I think it could be easier NYCDOT put sign in wrong place or wind blew the sign to wrong place.

Why aren't buses allowed to turn right on a red light on Long Island?

I assume you mean transit buses?  School buses are not allowed to turn right on red anywhere in New York State because NYS doesn't allow it anywhere in the state.  Suffolk County Transit (On Long Island) makes right on red because there is no law preventing all buses on Long Island from doing so.  About a year ago I noticed the stickers and new no right on red policy on NICE, other companies do this, it's a safety feature.  If a NICE bus is hit while turning on a red not only could people be hurt but NICE is liable fir the accident (it goes without saying but judging by the last two pages I read of this thread it needs to be explained that ANYONE turning right on red is automatically at fault if they are hit by anyone with the green).

Right on red is not by any non emergency vehicle in the boroughs of NYC unless a sign is present allowing it.

These are just the laws and there ARE exceptions to every rule.

N20 bus approaches Roosevelt ave stop, driver opens the front door the first  2 adults on the line just entered & just walked on the bus, didn't even make a attempt to pay, and what's worse, the driver said nothing at all to them, So I quietly tell the driver, hey you have 2 people who didn't pay, its not fare to me because I am paying, he told me I should tell the fare beaters, unbelievable response from the nice bus driver today.

If drivers try to enforce the fare it can lead to violence.  What they should do is have a button that alerts the police so the police can come on the bus and get the fare beaters.

The thing that annoys me about fare beaters is that some of them are repeat offenders, and they're not going anywhere of substance like WORK instance.

It's not fare, honest people pay there fare. I pay in coins so it's costing me more maybe nice should invest in a big sign that says no fare beating or if you don't pay the fare cops will be called. Something has to be done it doesn't look right, people paying & people walking on like it's a free bus ,

I agree 100% with the driver...

Exactly.  If it were me I wouldn't take the chance of getting, beat, stabbed, slashed, etc to collect someone else $2 and change!

I think you both know cops aren't going to respond to fare evasion in Nassau, Suffolk, or Queens!  Maybe they could have special stings, have cops on the bus every once and a while.  Or maybe the county can contract out a private company to hand out "notices of liability" like they do with red light tickets.  They wouldn't be real cops so they wouldn't be real tickets so there's no real enforcement besides being able to send it to a collection agency.

These people would probably get shit on harder than meter maids and the county would probably see higher costs in workers comp than revenue from the program because these people would probably get their ass kicked from day one and I'm sure one would get stabbed within a year.

I agree a bus driver doesn't want to get hurt but something has to be done about people not paying. Maybe a fairbox camera if you don't pay it will take a picture of you, & email that picture to a cop so he/ she can pull the bus over & give him a $500 dollar ticket, it's similar to the li speed camera program

Nassau County Police has better things to worry about, like stopping drunk drivers on the parkways and people speeding on local roads. Besides, the county isn't as pro-transit as the city.

Car's have license plates so a ticket can be mailed to the registered owner.  What are they going to do with a picture of the cheat?  How would they find him?  Email the picture to a cop to pull over the bus? Really?  Do I even have to point out the flaws in that?

Out of curiosity, where did you come up with the figure of $500 as a ticket for fare evasion?  I got a $80 red light ticket ($50.00 fine + $30.00 "driver responsibility fee  )....  In all fairness (no pun intended), someone can die from someone running a red light, someone is not going to die by someone paying their bus fare.

Actually all fare beaters know all bus companies across the states don't allow fare beaters, but some bus drivers are afraid of fare beaters because they could be either violent.

In fact, when I was escorting my blind vegetarian friend to Pt. Washington after LIBRU meeting, police pulled over our n23 bus looking for suspect (not farebeater).

Asking police to pull over the bus for farebeaters are bad ideas because it could increase more delays to buses.
