Request A Map!

Gorgor

Recommended Posts

Possibly in the future, but not now. I don't know anything about streets in the outerboroughs and I'd rather not have to constantly turn to Google Maps to use as a reference.

FamousNYLover, I'll get to your request next week.

How about I map it in Google Maps, and you just recreate it?

Well I know traffic patterns in Queens very well

It's not that, I just don't know street names so if it's like "turn right at X, turn left at Y" I'd have to use Google Maps and then count how many blocks are in between to map it out. It'd be too much of a hassle, I'm just sticking to Manhattan only for now.

I change my mind on Hampton Jitney.

Let's stick with Manhattan for now. Besides, he volunteered to do it for $0.00 and I am satisfied with the results. I would start off with Manhattan either way!

Plus if I were to tell someone else to do it, I'd get charged some bucks even for a PDF.

I agree.

Manhattan is not complicated, so it's easier for Gorgor.

I even think Amtrak7 took long time making Rockland County Bus Map in MTA style due to confusing streets.

I was wondering if Kristen Lewis is ready with Bee-Line Bus Map in MTA style?

What program did you use to embed/conjoin the map into a PDF file?

I eventually wanna do that w/ my brooklyn bus map, but I've been trying to find out how to do that for the longest now...

It's something I wanted to do, way back when I first started with my hand drawn street map of a fictional city (back in the early 2000's).... I never got through scanning the rest of the pages though, since this scanner broke down..... hopefully they didn't smear/smudge too much....

I use Illustrator to design the routes and Inkscape to clean the map base up.

There's a "Save As" command in Illustrator under the "File" menu. The shortcut key combo for it is Control+Shift+S (Command+Shift+S for the Mac). When clicking on the arrow for file type selection, there are a variety of choices. One of them is the Portable Document Format—or "PDF," for short. Select that, and you're on your way. You can do the same for Inkscape.

In Illustrator, if you have CS4/5/6, you can resize the artboard to make it big or small depending on the route you've designed or the base map.

ATTENTION

I am going to be extremely busy for the next week or two and will most likely not be able to create any maps until later on. Please DO NOT post any new map requests at this time.

Just a reminder, it's been a month, are the backlogged requests going to be filled?

Sorry, I'm just too busy nowadays to take care of requests.

If a moderator sees this, can they please lock this thread?
