TwoTimer Posted April 6, 2012 Share #51 Posted April 6, 2012 Yup, the blue strip was painted over the R44, in the 46 case they put that stainless strip instead. Both had roll signs beforehand. I'm not sure if they gonna try and put computer equipment in the 68/a but the LCD's might be installed, and look more like the newer ones seen on buses. TwoTimer Posted April 6, 2012 Share #53 Posted April 6, 2012 Orange/yellow? Yup. Those have the functionality to show two lines of text as well and roughly would be about the same length as the current rollsign.
Grand Concourse Posted April 6, 2012 Share #54 Posted April 6, 2012 I guess you have never seen a Pre-GOH R46. Oh, and you are probably going to tell me they don't have a Blue Stripe either right? Huh? What does that have to do with anything? I know the R46s used to have roll signs. All I was clearing up was the LCD vs LED.
brooklynunderground Posted July 10, 2012 Share #55 Posted July 10, 2012 All this is very interesting, I think that the A, C, and Q 2nd ave extension more desperately need the new r179's, but the Franklin Avenue shuttle could use a platform extension at Franklin station itself. BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 13, 2012 Share #57 Posted July 13, 2012 Wasn't there a plan in the 70s to overhaul the R10 with R42 fronts
NewFlyer 230 Posted July 14, 2012 Share #58 Posted July 14, 2012 Yes and they did it to one R10 but soon scrapped it. I guess because it either had problems or it was too much money to convert all the R10's. This was to keep the R10's runnng evening longer.
