Part 2:

Service Change

Posted: 06/21/2018 12:20PM

Southbound (2) and (3) trains are running express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr toFranklin Av.

Some southbound (2) and (3) trains will end at Times Sq-42 St or make (1) train stops to South Ferry.

Some southbound (4) and (5) trains will end at Bowling Green or Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.

These service changes are because a train's emergency brakes were activated at Franklin Av.

Expect delays on the (2) , (3) , (4) and (5) trains.

Why not just terminate such (4) and (5) trains at Atlantic Avenue (which USED to be a daytime terminal for the Lex years ago) in that situation?

Atlantic Av is not the greatest place to terminate trains, especially when they have to run through service on the express tracks, as is indicated on the service advisory. Brooklyn Bridge and Bowling Green are much better places to turn around in an emergency without creating a logjam down the line.

Service Change

Northbound (N) trains are stopping along the (Q) line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to DeKalb Av because of debris on the tracks at Bay Pkwy.

Expect delays in (N) and (Q) train service.

For service from bypassed stations, take a Coney Island-bound (N) train and transfer at Coney Island to a (D) train for service north of 36 St (Bklyn). For service to bypassed stations, take a northbound (D) train and transfer at 36 St (Bklyn) for southbound service.

So a past planned service change has come up as an unplanned service change...

(D) trains are stopping along the (C) line between 59 St-Columbus Circle and W 4 St-Washington Sq, then along the (F) line to Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions.

(F) trains are stopping along the (Q) line between Lexington Av-63 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, then along the (F) line to Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions.

Northbound (E) trains are stopping along the (C) line from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 168 St.

These service changes are because of signal problems at 34 St-Herald Sq.

As an alternative for service between Manhattan and Queens, take the (7) or (R) trains.

Our crews are on the scene working to restore normal service as quickly as possible.

Service Change  Posted: 06/23/2018  8:01PM

(E), (D) and (F) trains will be experiencing significant service changes tonight because we will be making urgent repairs to the 34 St signal system.

The following service changes will be in effect from 12am-5am:

(D) trains will be stopping along the (C) line between 59 St-Columbus Circle and W 4 St-Washington Sq, then along the (F) line between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions

There is no (D) train service at 7 Av, 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, 42 St-Bryant Pk, 34 St-Herald Sq and Grand St.

*Free shuttle bus service will operate between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Grand St in both directions and will also stop at Broadway-Lafayette St.

Southbound (E) trains will run normal to Queens Plaza, then will be stopping along the (R) line to Canal St (upper level) and will end there.

Northbound (E) trains will be stopping along the (R) line from Canal St (upper level) to Queens Plaza and then will resume normal service to Jamaica Ctr-Parsons/Archer.

Southbound (F) trains will run normal to Lexington Av/63 St, and then will be stopping along the (Q) line to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and then will be stopping along the (D) line to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

Northbound (F) trains will be stopping along the (D) line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and then will be stopping along the (Q) line to Lexington Av-63 St and will then resume normal service to Jamaica-179 St.

There is no (F) train service at 57 St, 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, 42 St-Bryant Pk, 23 St, 14 St, and W 4 St-Washington Sq.

All the Queens-Manhattan B division will be on Broadway local Southbound, as there is no express service this weekend. Let's see how Broadway local can juggle the (E) , (F) , (N) , and (Q) .

I wonder if they could have just merged the (E) and the (R) Shuttle into one during the overnight instead of potentially backing up (N) trains. Then again, I guess it'll get confusing.

I would have suggested sending the (E) to Atlantic just for the night, to not back up (N) service at Canal, but SB service is running via 4 Avenue Express.

That actually would've been a better idea because turning the (E) At Canal Street would've also effected the (F) and (Q) train as well and not just the (N) Train especially if the (N) Train is behind the (E) Train discharging and/or the (F) or (Q) Train is behind the (N) Train thats being held causing a conga line.

I'm curious to see how this plans out. Why not send the (R) over the (E) ?

Would probably have been better to extend the (R) and eliminate the (E). The route is more of line an extended (R) (which is less confusing) than a rerouted (E) (which is really an (E) in name only).

I agree. The only time an (E) designation would work is if it's terminating at Whitehall, but this is just confusing...

If something goes wrong on Broadway it's game over.

53rd st, 6 ave, Crosstown-Culver connection, and s/b Broadway express are now all OOS.

If something happens on Broadway,  it'll probably be (E)(F) via Crosstown, Queens Plaza, or to 21 St-Queensbridge, and some form of a West End Shuttle operating. Given how something tends to happen when the (F) goes down Broadway, we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Also, the (E) trains to Canal Street are appearing as '(R) World Trade Center' at all stations from Queens Plaza to Canal Street SB, and as '(R) Forest Hills-71 Av' going NB. I expect some very confused passengers. The former is also showing up on the Uptown Readings. Also, there are still (D) , (E) , and (F) trains on 6th, so IDK what's going on with that (when other trains in the respective directions are also going down along the reroutes).

Might as well have the (R) run Jamaica Center thru to 95th Street. Better than a redundant Yellow E terminating at Canal and blocking Yellow F, (N) and (Q) trains and having (R) shuttles just a couple of stops away at Whitehall.

Maybe there is some union reason why they can't simply run the (R) from 95th-Jamaica Center and have it combined with the rerouted (E) for one night?

I would also in this situation have the (G) extended to Queens Plaza if not further since the (E) is not stopping at Court Square,

Must suck to be on the West Side. BMT Broadway is really putting in that work tonight.

Southbound (2) trains are stopping along the (5) line from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Nevins St because of a rail condition at Central Park North-110 St.

Customers can expect delays on (2) and (3) train service in both directions.

Our crews are on the scene making repairs. Stay tuned for updates.

There's no suitable place to turn trains on the Crosstown right now (Court Square, Bedford-Nostrand and Bergen lower all have (G) trains turning, plus Bergen is a dead end), and it would be a double relay at Queens Plaza because 53rd Street is out of service (the express tracks have a dead end right then and there.)

We shoulda built that Queens to Upper 2nd Avenue connection like we were supposed to...

Far Rockaway-bound (A) train service has resumed at Howard Beach-JFK Airport

(S) shuttle trains are running between Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St and Far Rockaway-Mott Av in both directions.

Expect delays on (A) and (S) train service.

This service change is because of switch problems at Broad Channel.

There is no (4) train service in both directions between New Lots Av and Crown Heights-Utica Av because of an unauthorized person on the tracks at Van Siclen Av.

As an alternative, passengers can take B14 and B15 bus service stopping at nearby (4) stations.
