Service Change  Posted: 07/18/2018  5:26PM

There are delays and service changes on downtown (A) , (C) and (E) trains because of a broken rail at 14 St.

Southbound (C) trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.

Southbound (E) trains are running express from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal to Canal St.

For service to/from bypassed stations use northbound (C) or (E) train service.

Not on the website:

There are very few (B) trains

(C) service might be running via 6 Ave in both directions

(E) trains might be running via the (F) in both directions between Jackson Heights and West 4th Street.

NB (F) trains are running via Crosstown.

(G) service looks like is not running at all

UPDATE 5:55 PM

Something might go down on the upper Culver. The SubwayTime board shows multiple 'delayed' readings, with the most concentrated around 4 Ave-9 Street.

I remember those GOs with a Baton between 168 and Dyckman...

Now they just use shuttle buses....

Many stations, if not most, don't have car markers in both directions. I know that Forest Hills has some on the Jamaica-bound express and local tracks, with a 7-car marker. What is the protocol if the train is reverse running? Thanks.

There are delays in northbound (E) and 71 Av-bound (M) trains are running with delays because of signal problems at Lexington Av-53 St.

Northbound (E) trains are stopping along (F) line from W 4 St-Washington Sq to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

I remember the baton being used s/b from 168 and 145 many years ago. After a M/M got injured while passing the baton from the roadbed to the train at 168 that practice was discontinued and everything was done from the platform. I used to encounter the ATD who was in charge that night, because the motor instructor was called away, and I’d look at him with utter contempt. He changed the procedure as soon as the instructor left the scene because he said that what the instructor allowed was against the rules. He might have been technically correct which is probably why he wasn’t disciplined but the practice was changed immediately after the incident. The injured M/M ended up with a metal plate in his head. BTW the installation of ATS doesn’t automatically mean two way signaling is established. In the IRT East Side above Brooklyn Bridge there was never bi-directional signaling pre or post ATS. I’ve never heard of a train wrong railing anywhere up there under signal protection except at the interlockings at Grand Central or 86th Street where trains were crossed to turn back. In other words you’re not wrong railing from Union Square to Grand Central. My recollections. Carry on.

I never understood where the (W) ends when Whitehall St is out. Do they send all of them to 86th St?

Power has been shut off on the (J) south of Chambers. The person may be running around near the entrance to Montague

Most likely turned at City Hall lower level, switches are just south of Canal St upper level.

Which 86 Street? The southbound (N) doesn’t even have a stop there.

Service Change

Southbound (N) and (Q) trains have service changes because of a passenger in need of medical assistance at Canal St.

Southbound (N)(Q) trains will stop on the upper level R platform at Canal St.

Passengers can expect delays in (E)(N)(Q)(R) train service in both directions.

Not on the website:

(E) trains are heading down 8th Avenue. Where they're going is anyone's guess.

Stay tuned for the service changes (because the MTA just doesn't want to)

Service Change  Posted: 07/23/2018  4:43PM

There are Manhattan-bound delays and service changes on the (J) , (M) , and (Z) lines between Brooklyn and Manhattan because a train's brakes automatically activated on the Williamsburg Bridge. Until we can get service running, consider using nearby alternatives, such as the (L)line.

Service Changes (according to Subway Time)

(M) train service is running between Myrtle Avenue-Broadway and Middle Village.

There is very limited (M) service in Manhattan and Queens (those that are running are running to either 2nd Avenue or WTC)

(J)(M) trains between Essex and Myrtle Avenue-Broadway are being held

Some southbound (4) and (5) trains are ending at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall or Bowling Green.

NB (4) trains are running local in Brooklyn

The (2) to New Lots seems to be the norm now. I've noticed that regularly. Not sure why either...
