Lots of (L) riders were complaining about the smell of fuel along the line on Twitter. Supposedly diesel fuel leaked from an work train..

Really is sad how it take nearly a whole line to tweet to them in order for them to notice that something this dangerous is occurring. 2 people apparently fainted from the smell.

Judging by the smell since I was near Lormier St earlier, it was a LOT of fuel...

There was a union rep at the site being interviewed, he said one of the booth agents along the (L) doing the overnight shift was so overwhelmed by the smell the person ended up calling out halfway through their shift.

If it started overnight when the (L) train is not running, no passenger would be able to report the problem until the morning anyway. Who knows what the (MTA) was thinking by not investigating the problem before the trains started running this morning...

(A)  trains have service changes and delays in both directions because of a train with mechanical problems at Beach 36 St.

There is no(A)  train service in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av. Service will be rerouted to Rockaway Park-116 St from Broad Channel.

For service between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway take the Q52 or Q22 bus.

There are service changes and delays on (F) and (M) trains while we fix network communication issues at the Queensboro Tower.

(F) trains are running on the (E) line between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 5 Av in both directions.

Some northbound (F) trains are stopping along the (G) line from Bergen St to Court Sq then along the (E) line to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.

(M) trains are running on the (F) line between 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr and 36 St (Qns) in both directions.

Expect delays in (E) , (F) , (G) , (M) and (R) train service.

Update to the above:

Some SB (F) trains are running local in Queens. These trains will operate via 63 Street.

All NB (F) trains running via Crosstown ONLY will be making local stops in Queens.

So basically the switches were stuck to/from the local tracks. but how did the (R) get to Queens Plaza?

Looks like the Express track switch at 36 St/Queens Plaza was stuck to operate straight, so either one of the following happened:

1 . (M) cannot cross over to the local track going towards 71 Av

2. (M) cannot cross over to express from Queens Plaza going to Court Sq-23 St

3. (F) cannot cross from the express track Manhattan-bound to 63 St (all trains must go to 53 St)

4. (F) cannot cross from 21 St-Queensbridge to the Express; train would have to go local.

Its better to flip the (F)(M) in terms of the tunnels they use to get to/from Manhattan than have them operate on their respective tunnels (53 St/63 St) because then the (F) would then be stuck going local to 71 Av and getting stuck behind the terminating (R) trains, and the (M) would clog up the (E) by terminating at 71 Av. Flipping the (F)(M) at Roosevelt Av to their correct routes (or forced routes if going towards Manhattan) also reduces capacity overall.

The (R) was just delayed due to the new switching pattern

(N) and (R) trains have service changes and delays because of a signal problem near Queensboro Plaza.

Some Queensboro Plaza-bound (N) trains are ending at 57 St-7 Av or Times Square-42 St.

Some Forest Hills-bound (R) trains are stopping along the (Q) line from 57 St-7 Av to Lexington Av-63 St, then over the (F) line to 36 St.

Expect delays in (F)(N)(Q)(R)  train service.

There is no (E) train service between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Kew Gardens-Union Tpke and limited service in Queens past Queens Plaza while our crews work on a signal problem at Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av/JFK Airport.

LIRR is accommodating NYCT MetroCard holders at Jamaica and Penn Station.

Consider taking the Q60 bus, which runs between Jamaica Center and Kew Gardens.

See a station agent for a courtesy pass for continuing train or bus service.

Expect delays in (E) and (F) train service in both directions.

Based on Subway Time:

Some (E) trains are running express to 179 Street.

Some (E) trains are terminating at Forest Hills-71 Avenue.

Some (E) trains are terminating at Queens Plaza.

Some SB (E) trains are making local stops in Queens.
