MysteriousBtrain Posted July 15, 2016 Share #3826 Posted July 15, 2016 Due to switch problems at Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer, the following service changes are in effect: trains are running on the line from Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike to Jamaica-179 St in both directions. As an alternative, At Parsons Blvd station, take Jamaica-LIRR station bound Q25, Q34 or Q65 buses for Jamaica Center and Sutphin Blvd-JFK stations. Expect delays in both directions. Allow additional travel time. Is there enough capacity at 179 to turn all and trains there? I think that there is more than enough space. Remember the and shared the terminal before the Archer line opened.
Around the Horn Posted July 16, 2016 Share #3827 Posted July 16, 2016 Is there enough capacity at 179 to turn all and trains there? Oh hell yeah! It's rumored to be able to turn as many as 60 trains an hour. Sent from my iPod touch using NYC Transit Forums mobile app

Interested Rider Posted July 19, 2016 Share #3833 Posted July 19, 2016 The N Line information was posted on MTA info on the internet which I looked at after hearing about problems on the N Line in a 6 PM traffic report on the radio. Two trees down on two different lines tonight. It must be the drought watch which is statewide and was declared last week by the governor as we have 9 months of below average rainfall. Hopefully this is a typo, otherwise I wouldn't understand why the MTA is adding the into an already bad mess for no reason.

Yes… but Chambers Street is a viable terminal. Does that station turn trains much less efficiently than Broad Street?

Jchambers2120 Posted July 25, 2016 Share #3845 Posted July 25, 2016 A couple of questions. I looked at the train schedules and noticed something. There's ten trains that are scheduled to terminate at Crown Heights-Utica avenue, why not just send those trains express to New Lots and go to the yard instead of clogging up the relay at Utica? You'd be giving the riders traveling east of Utica a service boost too. The isn't as frequent as the other IRT lines in bk and there's a yard behind the station that could help with potential congestion. Is because you can get trains back onto Lexington faster if they end at Utica as opposed to NLTS? Also, why do the and trains end their Brooklyn service earlier than the ? It looks like they all have similar ridership numbers in BK, is there a specific reason why they end earlier?
