MysteriousBtrain Posted October 3, 2016 Share #3951 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) Service Change Posted: 10/03/2016 11:20AM Due to switch problems between Queensboro Plaza and Lexington Av/59 St, we are experiencing significant delays. The following service changes are in effect: Northbound trains are terminating at 57 St-7 Av. Some southbound trains are running on the line from 36 St (QNS) to W 4 St-Washington Square and then on the line to [/b]DeKalb Av. Some southbound trains are running on the line from Canal St to DeKalb Av. Expect delays on , , , , , and train service. We regret the inconvenience and are working to correct the problem. Thanks MTA what would I do without your service changes that you post online but no one pays attention to? Around the Horn Posted October 4, 2016 Share #3953 Posted October 4, 2016 It’s nice that the has a redundant option to exercise. And when the Second Avenue Subway opens, you'll have yet another option: via the to Lex-63rd then via the to 34th. I also remember during the Montague tunnel shutdown, they sent the Whitehall Street bound trains to 2nd Avenue via the .

Around the Horn Posted October 4, 2016 Share #3955 Posted October 4, 2016 Isn’t it the same option? No. One is via 63rd and then 6th Avenue (for when the obstruction is on Broadway) and then the other is 63rd via Broadway (when the obstruction is in the 60th Street tubes)
Lance Posted October 4, 2016 Share #3956 Posted October 4, 2016 It's too bad the switches between 63rd Street and Broadway are still out of service. Otherwise, they could simply reroute the via the between 36 Street and 57 St-7 Av.

Eric B Posted October 5, 2016 Share #3959 Posted October 5, 2016 I don't even know why they did that. I know they're working on the new other half of the station, but the switch is a ways outside of the station.

I believe the tunnels between Lex-63rd and 57th-7th are getting some remedial work done so they probably decided to wall everything off.

As of yesterday the barriers were still up on the Brooklyn bound level. They can be a bit hard to see if the train is going by fast.
