danielhg121 Posted April 18, 2017 Share #4301 Posted April 18, 2017 Clearly the line is a mess from the comments below the ServiceAlert tweet. Announcements aren't being made and trains are terminating everywhere. Dis slow moving work train is causing this entire line to f*ck up. N6 Limited Posted April 18, 2017 Share #4302 Posted April 18, 2017 Sounds like a southbound train that erroneously got sent over to the . Probably dumped at Hoyt then reversed at Lafayette Av. But if that's the case it would still have to reverse at Jay street to go to Coney Island First time seeing this one https://twitter.com/NYCTSubway/status/854157602347003904?s=09 #ServiceAlert: b/d trains are running with delays, slow moving work train between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St. https://t.co/vhZQ2kZ2vb Actual details, interesting.
RestrictOnTheHanger Posted April 18, 2017 Share #4303 Posted April 18, 2017 (edited) The work train apparently went through the 60th st Tunnel to Lex/59, and is now making its way up the QBL into Jamaica Yard. To make matters worse, the Jamaica bound QBL local track is OOS for planned work. From NYCTSubway Twitter Edited April 18, 2017 by RestrictOnTheHanger

agar io Posted April 19, 2017 Share #4307 Posted April 19, 2017 This morning my uptown train skipped 135 St. At 145 St I saw the reason why - a train was out of service on the upper level northbound local track. Does anyone know what was up with that OOS ?

That might have been the train that turns into an for the PM Rush... they probably was clearing out the train and probably didn't want to delay service.

Fantastic timing during the evening rush also.
paulrivera Posted April 19, 2017 Share #4310 Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) I'm guessing the disruption is CBTC transition related. The line has had problems like this in the past where 8 Av to Canarsie was completely OOS too... This is something I have wanted to know for some time. The new signal system might have been interfering with the old system, which at time would cause a full system shutdown. In this case one of the newer signals (or old ones) had a malfunction which interfered with the rest of the signals on the line, causing a full shutdown.

paulrivera Posted April 21, 2017 Share #4318 Posted April 21, 2017 Is 53rd Street on a fault line or in some ancient burial ground or something? That's the third time in the last few months a power problem has taken down the entire B division. Unless this is also a "Catch Bus To Continental"/"Catch Bus To Concourse" related problem...
Around the Horn Posted April 21, 2017 Share #4319 Posted April 21, 2017 Is 53rd Street on a fault line or in some ancient burial ground or something? No, that substation on 53rd between 7th and 8th is the main one for most of the IND so naturally when it goes out most of the B division gets screwed.
