Orion VII 4 Life Posted December 15, 2012 Share #576 Posted December 15, 2012 WTF? There's no this weekend from 34th down to Brooklyn?
CenSin Posted December 15, 2012 Share #577 Posted December 15, 2012 No, they are contiguous. They were reinstalled for the testing of the R142/As in the late 1990s/early 2000s. I've never been up there, so the track maps on NYCSubway.org must have been wrong for quite a while…
Snowblock Posted December 15, 2012 Share #578 Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) Yes, those maps are outdated and full of mistakes. Tk Y3 is fully intact from E180 to Dyre. There isn't going to be an below 34 St on weekends for a good while. There's still a lot of work going on in lower Manhattan and Montague. There isn't going to be an below 34 St on weekends for a good while. There's still a lot of work going on in lower Manhattan and Montague. Are they still going on track to open the Montague by the end of the year? via GO's are in the system for Christmas week...
Guest Lance Posted December 16, 2012 Share #581 Posted December 16, 2012 Obviously that's dependent on whether Montague is open. If it isn't by the time the diversions are scheduled, the work is cancelled/postponed.
mfs NJT459 Posted December 18, 2012 Share #582 Posted December 18, 2012 Well, we know now that Montague Street Tunnel will be open by Friday.
pr1nyc1 Posted December 19, 2012 Share #583 Posted December 19, 2012 There was a broken rail on tk 1 just south of 125. My got rerouted down the West Side, and they were sending/turning Lex trains all over the place. Damn, how long does it usually take to repair a broken rail?
Snowblock Posted December 19, 2012 Share #584 Posted December 19, 2012 About 90 minutes. But make it 60 and I'll buy you a beer.
Mysterious2train Posted December 20, 2012 Share #585 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Speaking of track troubles, Nostrand Av is pretty FUBAR'd right now. There's a switch malfunction at Flatbush Av. At first trains were terminating at President Avenue (lol C/R, you so silly) Street, but trains seem to be ending at Church Av now. The B44 was pretty messed up, after waiting at President St about 20 mins or so and seeing 5 Limiteds to 1 local, all crushloaded, I just gave up and hiked it over to the B49. Hmmm, maybe that Nostrand Av Fastrack isn't such a bad idea after all. Edited December 20, 2012 by Mysterious2train

All I could say was… the express tracks were constipating.
alekr Posted December 22, 2012 Share #587 Posted December 22, 2012 Due to a rail condition at the 81 Street-Museum of Natural History, downtown and trains are running local from the 125 Street Station to the 59 Street-Columbus Circle Station. train service suspended from the Euclid Avenue Station to the 168 Street Station. Please expect delay in and train service at this time. I still don't understand the point of suspending the C service. I understand there would be lots of trains on the tracks but seems silly to suspend the C. What about the Brooklyn C service and the 8th ave section downtown below 59th street?
alejr88 Posted December 22, 2012 Share #588 Posted December 22, 2012 I think they discharge passengers and run off NIS. The replaces them I don't know if that's how it's done.

There was a derailed train that caused this rail condition.
GojiMet86 Posted December 22, 2012 Share #590 Posted December 22, 2012 Yesterday power was cut off on the Astoria line or so said the announcements. I had to take an via the line. What was odd was that my Queens-bound switched from the local uptown track all the way to the express downtown track at 57th Street, because they had the on the express uptown track. Then my left and switched to the Queens-bound 63rd Street track. I don't know the logic behind switching the like that.
ttcsubwayfan Posted December 22, 2012 Share #591 Posted December 22, 2012 Due to mechanical problems at Jay St-Metrotech Station, Southbound trains are running on line between Canal St Station and DeKalb Av Station. Please expect delays in train service at this time. Well, it was nice while it lasted

There was some problem in Brooklyn as well, that seemed to be what did in service (and lead to a change of headway of up to 30 min!)

ttcsubwayfan Posted December 23, 2012 Share #597 Posted December 23, 2012 I'd say mechanical problems at Jay Street has nothing to do with the Montague tunnel. The point is there was no southbound service through the tunnel.
