Service Change  Posted: 03/22/2019  5:26PM

Southbound (R) trains are running over the (N) line between Canal St and DeKalb Av while we get emergency medical assistance for a customer atDeKalb Av.

Expect delays in southbound (N) and (R) service.

Delays  Posted: 03/22/2019  5:14PM

Northbound (Q) trains have resumed making local stops from Sheepshead Bay to Kings Hwy after our crews removed a soccer ball from the roadbed that caused the train's brakes to activate at Kings Hwy.

Continue to expect delays as we get trains back on schedule.

I can't help but wonder how someone managed that.

Anyone know why this one (N) train went via the tunnel? It's created a huge gap.

It looks like they don't keep track of the bridge platforms at Canal Street. The chart shows the trains going from Atlantic Ave to Union Square (Except for the local train)

There are sports fields down on the line, in addition to kids that might be playing near the tracks. It shouldn't be that hard to get a ball over.

That was more then a 30 min delay between stations.   If it was done on purpose person should get in trouble.

There are delays and service changes in (L) train service because of a person being struck by a train at Grand St. There is no service in either direction between 8 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs. See a station agent to receive a courtesy pass for continuing train or bus service.

Station-Specific Alternatives:
.    For service from the west side of Manhattan into Brooklyn, consider taking a downtown (A) , (C) , (E) , or (F) train to W 4 St-Washington Sq, to transfer for (J) or (M) service.
.    For service into Manhattan from Williamsburg, take a Queens-bound (G) train at Metropolitan Av to Court Sq and transfer to either the (E) , (M) , or (7) lines, or from Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs take the (M) line.
.    For service along 14 St in Manhattan, consider taking nearby M14A or M14D bus. Here are directions from 1 Av: http://bit.ly/2LtnddJ Here are directions from 3 Av: http://bit.ly/2Lakrut
.    For service to/from Bedford Av, consider transferring between the B62 bus and the (J) or (M) line at Marcy Av or Nassau Av on the (L) line. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2IU9616
.    For service to/from Graham Av and Lorimer St, consider transferring between the B24 bus and (J) or (M) service at Marcy Av. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2EOQJGB
.    For service to/from Grand Av, consider transferring between the Q54 bus and (J) or (M) service at Marcy Av. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2ENlY4N
.    For service to/from Jefferson Av, consider transferring between the B57 bus and (J) or (M) service at Flushing Av. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2NL8jhB
.    For service between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and DeKalb Av, consider taking the B13 bus along Wyckoff Av. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2C63kDz
.    For service to/from Wilson Av, Morgan Av, and Montrose Av, consider taking the B60 for service to/from the (C) line at Rockaway Av, the (J) or (Z) lines at Chauncy St, or the (J) , (M) , or (Z) lines at Marcy Av. Here are directions: http://bit.ly/2C4sxhI

Even though we discussed this many times, imagine ONE incident on the (L) during the weekends after April 27th.

Ah, yes, an incident occurring on a two-track line with few intermediate turnaround points caused a mess on the majority of the line. This is no different from an incident at DeKalb Av screwing over the entire Southern Division. Location is key to determining the impact of a service disruption. Just the luck of the draw unfortunately.

It is interesting they did not decide to use the Bedford Av switches to provide service through 8 Avenue, but those may still be out of service.

Southbound (2) and (5) trains ae holding in stations between Jackson Av and E 180 St while FDNY responds to a small debris fire on the tracks between 3 Av-149 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.

Service Change

Southbound (2) and (5) trains are running express from Prospect Av to 3 Av-149 St while FDNY responds to a small debris fire on the tracks at 3 Av-149 St.

For service to/from bypassed stations, take a northbound (2) and (5) train.

“Bronx-bound 2 trains are running express from 72 St to 96 St to alleviate congestion along the Lenox Av line.”

They’re running the (2) line on a 30 minute headway, how the hell could there possibly be congestion?

This is what you get when you cut corners on service. Instead of sending the (2) in one direction via Lex like they would normally do with a GO on Lenox, they single track Lenox, cut service, and can’t even sequence the trains properly...

It’s likely due to issues with single tracking over a long stretch of track. And couple flagging, which will leave you with trains backing up at 96 St and 149 St-Concourse. But yes a 2-station skip does not solve anything.

yes maybe rerouting the (2) via Lexington would have worked but you have the (6) train GO at the same time, taking up slots on the Lexington Av express track at 125 St, and not to mention removing 7 Av service for ALL stops in one direction from Nevins St to 149 St-Concourse.

alternatively a suspension of the (2) between 96 St and 3 Av-149 St would have been easier and preserves more or less the normal frequency

Service Change  Posted: 04/02/2019 11:20AM

There are service changes and delays in  (N)(Q)(R) and (W) train service because a train's brakes were activated near 57 St-7 Av.

Forest Hills-bound (R) trains are running on the (Q) line from 57 St-7 Av to Lexington Av/63 St and then on the (F) line to 36 St.

Ditmars-bound (N) trains are holding in stations.

Not Mentioned:

Some NB (N) trains are running on the (Q) to 96 Street

Does that mean the tunnel to 59 Street was partially occupied?

So I look at the countdown timer at Canal Street and I'm like… ffff… 5 minutes until any train shows up and it's an (N). The next train is also an (N). Then an (R) train pulls up as I walk away from the countdown display in resignation. Looks like I'll get to Trader Joe's/Target at DeKalb Avenue without waiting too long for a (Q)!
