Service Change  Posted: 05/09/2019  6:45AM

All Broad St-bound (J) trains are running local to provide additional service while we secure an object hanging in the (L) train tunnel.

Service Change  Posted: 05/09/2019  6:21AM

Some 8 Av-bound (L) trains end at Bedford Av because of obstruction in the tunnel between Bedford Av and 1 Av.

Expect delays in both directions.

My (E) got rerouted without explanation to the (F) after West Fourth. I guessed it was to fill a gap in (F) service. At Kew Gardens, there was an (F) across the platform, and 80% of riders flocked to it. The side sign said Via Crosstown, confirming my suspicion.

There are delays and service changes on (N)(R) and (W) trains in Manhattan while our crews investigate reports of smoke near Lexington Av/59 St

Some northbound trains will run via the (Q) line from 57 St-7 Av to 96 St, where they will end. Some trains will end at 57 St-7 Av.

For travel within Manhattan, consider alternate service options, like the (1)(2)(3)  or (B)(D)(F)(M) , if possible.

Based on Subway Time:

Some (R) trains are running on the (Q) to Lexington Avenue, then via the (F) express to 71 Avenue (no local stops).

Some SB (N) trains are turning at Queensboro Plaza

Meanwhile....

Delays  Posted: 05/10/2019  8:06PM

Northbound (2) and (3) trains are running at slower speeds between 34 St-Penn Station and Times Sq-42 St because of a signal malfunction at Times Sq-42 St

Service Change

There are service changes and delays in (A) and Rockaway (S) train service because of a signal malfunction at Broad Channel.

Some Far Rockaway-bound (A) trains are ending at Euclid AvHoward Beach-JFK Airport or Broad Channel.

Expected delays in (A) and Rockaway (S) train service in both directions.

As an alternative, see a station agent to receive a courtesy pass for continuing Q22, Q52 SBS, or Q53-SBS bus service. See bustime.mta.info/ to continue your trip.

(7) trains are resuming normal service after we moved a track inspection train from Manhattan to Queens.

Expect delays in both directions.

There's a service change again:

Some Main St-bound (7) trains will run express from Queensboro Plaza or 74 St-Broadway to Flushing-Main St as our track inspection train works in Queens.

So between 12:30 and 1:30, only two trains made it to Flushing (in service)? Yikes!

Nah, the WP dropouts are data errors — ignore them. The gigantic gap is the real story.

It would appear that being early to catch a train isn't always advantageous. Just passed by DeKalb Avenue on the (N) express and there was a local (N) dwelling on the bridge track. There was a (B) in front of it at the junction.

Couldn’t they just deinterline the entirety of 8 Avenue all the way up Central Park West? It should make the service faster after accounting for confused riders at the express stops. Having the (C) and (D) cross each other’s paths north of 145 Street is just stupid. Did nobody in operations foresee delays attributed to that alone?

Unless they removed the switch north of the station('s upper level), that's not an issue.

That's what they did, (A)(C) on the express track (B)(D) on the local track.

1257 EST, "Northbound (D) trains are arriving on the local track at 59 St-Columbus Circle because of a switch malfunction near that station. Expect delays in northbound (B) ,(C) , and (D) service."

1516 EST, "Northbound (A)  trains are holding in stations while we request NYPD to respond to reports of a subway surfer at 14 St."

1535 EST, "Update: There are service changes in northbound (C) and (D) service because of a switch malfunction at 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Northbound (C) trains are running on the express track from Canal St to 145 St.

Northbound (D) trains are running on the local track from 59 St-Columbus Circle to 205 St. "

1538 EST, "Update: There are delays and service changes in northbound (A) , (C) , and (E) service while we request NYPD to respond to reports of a subway surfer at 14 St.

Northbound (C) trains are running on the express track from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Northbound (E) trains are running on the express track from Canal St to 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal. "

I think that they suspended the (C) local service because of the safety problem(while they were fixing the switch) and to not mess up the rush hour service. The local track cannot handle (B)(C)(D) at the same time at rush hour without delay the services. Or the switch might not be working while they were fixing it.
