Around the Horn Posted October 3, 2019 Share #6582 Posted October 3, 2019 Some Reroutes Southbound and trains are running at slower speeds near Court Sq-23 St while our track crews perform urgent inspection work. To avoid train congestion along Queens Boulevard, we are running fewer southbound and trains until the work is completed. Some southbound trains will run on the line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Washington Sq. In addition, some trains will run on the line from 36 St to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr. Expect significant delays in , and train service in both directions. As an alternative for service along 8 Av, consider using or train service. If you're traveling to Manhattan, consider taking an train. For service to Queens, consider using train service to 74 St-Broadway. I think some and trains went down 6th Avenue, not exactly sure. At Fulton Street, I was waiting at the south end for an R32 to Far Rockaway to railfan. As I waited, some trains (both directions) started coming into the station rerouted in addition to regular and service due to some track fire at York Street. It eventually showed up, but only going north. Fast forward to 207th Street. Train departed from the station at 6:26 p.m. (?). I forgot the exact time anyway. Train got held for a couple of minutes at 168th and again at 145th. Afterwards, the ride seem regular until near 96th Street. Meanwhile, the train that was at 168th Street beat us all the way down to 59th Street and onwards (it first made a connection with us at 145th and was already leaving 125th just as the first car of my train approached the station; passed it midway between 116th and 110th, and as we got held near 86th or 81st, that then whizzes by and beats us altogether. In the meantime, there was also a ahead of us. The train crawled all the way, stop dead a few times, towards near the switch, where it used to cross over to the northbound express track for service back uptown to 207th Street. But before that, we were held just before that particular switch. Two trains passed us and then another . I went upstairs to take the to 42nd for the home.

I didn't think the Central Park West portion of the , , , and would be affected by the multiple merging delays at 59th Street, 34th Street-Herald Square, and West 4th Street, but it sure did. It was a total mess on all 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue lines during the height of the PM peak. Once my R32 was close to being fully platformed at 59th Street on the N/B express track, a Bronx-bound pulled in on the local track at the same time. It probably ran express after 59th Street while the R32 waited for uptown-bound departure I guess, due to the downtown-bound crowds needing some time into coming off the train first. NoHacksJustKhaks Posted October 7, 2019 Share #6590 Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) There is no service in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway Mott Av because a customer was struck by a train at Beach 25 St. Use the Q22 or Q52 as ’s will run to 116, the LIRR will accommodate metrocard holders as well at Far Rockaway LIRR station. — Beach 25st seems to be a hotspot for these incidents in the past decade. BM5 via Woodhaven Posted October 11, 2019 Share #6591 Posted October 11, 2019 (edited) Bronx IRT service is a shitshow: Multiple Impacts There is service changes and extensive delays in and service because of a switch problem at 149 St-Grand Concourse. There is extremely limited service between 96 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse: Some northbound trains are ending at 96 St and turning back southbound. Some southbound trains are ending at 149 St-Grand Concourse and turning back northbound. There is no regular northbound service between Manhattan and Brooklyn and limited service in the Bronx. Northbound trains currently in Manhattan will run on the line to Burnside Av, where they will end. Northbound trains currently in Brooklyn will run on the line from Nevins St to 149 St-Grand Concourse, where they will resume their regular route. In addition, some northbound trains are ending at 125 St. Metro-North Railroad is accommodating MetroCard holders on the following trains: Hudson Line between Grand Central Terminal and Wakefield Harlem Line and New Haven Line between Grand Central Terminal and Woodlawn Edited October 11, 2019 by BM5 via Woodhaven
