Why couldn't the MTA have (B)'s run via the (F) line to Church Av or 2nd Avenue, (D)'s running their regular route, (N)'s run via 4th Avenue Express to Coney Island, (Q) trains running via 4th Avenue Local/Express via the (D) to terminate at Bay Pkwy and/or Coney Island and (R) trains run every 16 Minutes to/from Bay Ridge to avoid congestion and have those 2 car (S) sets convert into 2 4 car units to shuttle passengers to Prospect Park and have 2 2-car units shuttle passengers to Franklin Avenue where they can use the (2), (3) , (4) , and (5) trains as a alternate.

Running the (R) every 16 minutes is a violation of NYCT policy. No matter what the situation is on the road, you keep the headways to a minimum of 10 minutes.

They did not reroute any 6th Av Express trains (under your scenario - the (B)) via Rutgers St and Culver Local since they would just get in the way of the (F)(M)(G). The issue was on the Brighton Line anyway, and the 4th Av Line was the only other South Brooklyn BMT four-track mainline corridor to reroute Brighton Line trains to. Simple solution was to keep the (N) via tunnel or bridge, 4th Av local to Gravesend-86th, the (B) suspended (any leftover (B)s out remain in service via 4th Ave Express and West End to Bay Parkway then out of service for the night), and the (Q) via 4th Av Express and West End to Coney Island.

Your scenario spreads the Brighton Line issue at Prospect Park to every South Brooklyn lettered line instead of just the 4th Ave line and make the (R) even less reliable than it already is.

It's out of bounds as what video games will point out (above the platform marker)

I'm ashamed that I didn't think of that one.

But yes, that's one notable reason. (There's also the fact that, even with the third pair, we'd be two cars short on that proposal, and we'd still have to worry about a train crapping out.)

Did anyone else come across the report about the (J) train suspension between Broadway Junction and Jamaica Center? A signal problem at Cleveland St caused by a blown fuse?  Things like this is why I don’t care about New car deliveries as much as some posters do. Carry on.

MTA: "Um.... it's Con Edison's fault?" 😄

@Abba, south of Kings Hwy on the Brighton Line are crossover switches for short-turning (Q) trains from Coney Island to use. You can not terminate them at Kings Hwy on the Sea Beach Line.

Actually you can terminate trains at Kings Highway on the Sea Beach and yes I mean relay trains. It's been done before on the (N) Trains numerous of times. Hell it was done yesterday due to the signal issue at 86th Street.

There is no Franklin Av (S)  service in either direction while NYPD completes an investigation at Franklin Av.

For continued service, consider taking a B48 bus.

I don’t understand why they can’t run an shuttle from Prospect park to Botanic Garden (or even park place if power is on there)  and back. Is power off on The Whole shuttle Line? If not no excuse not to do it!

Multiple Impacts  Posted: 11/18/2019  7:34AM

There are multiple impacts and delays in (F) and (M) service because of a switch problem at 47-50 Sts Rockefeller Ctr.

There is no southbound service on the (F) line into Manhattan:

Some southbound (F) trains are running on the (E) line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq.

Some southbound (F) trains are running on the (E) line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to Court Sq and then on the (G) line to Bergen St.

Southbound (M) trains are running on the (E) line from 5 Av/53 St to W 4 St-Wash Sq.

Delays

(A) service has resumed between Lefferts Blvd-Ozone Park and Rockaway Blvd in both directions while we work to fix a signal problem at Rockaway Blvd.

Trains may experience delays through the area as our crews manually operate the switch machines to move trains between tracks.

RT is short for retweet on Twitter.

I wonder if this was someone who wandered onto the tracks,

Pretty sure this "RT" really is someone from the MTA's social media team.

In another news:

Local to Express

Southbound (F) and Church Av-bound (G) trains are running express from Smith-9 Sts to Church Av while get EMS and NYPD assistance for an MTA employee who was assaulted at 7 Av.

For service to/from bypassed stations, use northbound (F) or Court Sq-bound (G) train service.

I feel like there's been an uptick in incidents regarding MTA employees being assaulted.

Part Suspended  Posted: 11/22/2019  6:53PM

There is no (A) train service between Far Rockaway-Mott Av and Broad Channel while our crews work to correct a signal malfunction at Far Rockaway-Mott Av.

All (A) trains will be rerouted to Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.

Part Suspended  Posted: 11/22/2019  6:27PM

All southbound (R) trains are ending at 86 St while our crews work to correct a malfunctioning signal at Bay Ridge-95 St.

For service to Bay Ridge-95 St, take a B8 bus.

Stations Skipped  Posted: 11/22/2019  6:04PM

Northbound (N)(R)(W)  trains are skipping 49 St while we get emergency medical attention for someone at that station.

Expect delays in northbound  service.

Well, at least the trains were allowed to serve the Rockaways in any capacity...

Trains Rerouted Posted: 11/22/19 9:08 PM

To prepare for this weekend's planned work, southbound (Q) trains will run modified service patterns starting around 9:10pm.

Until 10pm, (Q) trains will operate normally until DeKalb Av, then via the (D) line in Brooklyn.

After 10pm, (Q) trains will run on the (D) line in Manhattan starting at 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.

If you're at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr after approximately 9:45pm, (Q) trains will arrive on the (D) platform.

If you're on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan after approximately 10pm, you'll see (Q) trains on the express track.

These re-routed (Q) trains will not run all the way to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, because they need to get to Coney Island Yard.

(Q) trains will end at 9 Av62 St, or Bay Parkway. Please be sure to listen for any on-board crew announcements.

That level of detail is quite useful.

Indeed. They have been doing a very good job going into full detail as of late. It helps the customer comprehend the message clearly.

I hope it stays that way.
