MULTIPLE IMPACTS  Posted: 07/17/2020  1:59PM

While we work to correct a switch problem at Queensboro Plaza, the following service changes are in effect:

There is no (N) or (W) service between Lexington Av/59 St and Queensboro Plaza.
Northbound (N) trains are ending at 57 St - 7 Av or Lexington Av/59 St.
Northbound (W) trains are running on the (Q) line from 57 St - 7 Av to96 St.

Northbound (R) trains are running on the (Q) line from 57 St - 7 Av to Lexington Av/63 St then on the (F) line to 36 St.

For service between Manhattan and Queens, consider taking a (7)(E)(F) and (M) train or the Q69, Q100, Q101, and Q102 buses.

This is an interesting one:

The last stop on northbound (2) trains will be Nereid Av.

The first stop on southbound (2) trains will be Gun Hill Rd.

For alternate service, take a Bx39 bus.

Update to what's above:

MULTIPLE IMPACTS  Posted: 07/19/2020  3:08PM

While our crews work to correct a switch problem at 47-50 Sts - Rockefeller Ctr the following service changes are in effect:
Southbound (D) trains are running on the (A) line from 59 St - Columbus Circle to Canal St and then on the (E) line to World Trade Center, the last stop.
Southbound (F) trains are running on the (E) line from Jackson Hts - Roosevelt Av to W 4 St - Wash Sq.
Northbound (D) and (F) trains are ending at 34 St - Herald Sq.
Northbound (Q) trains will run on the (R) line starting at DeKalb Av and end at either Whitehall St - South Ferry or 34 St - Herald Sq.
Southbound (Q) trains are ending at Times Sq - 42 St.
Expect extensive delays in (D)(F) and (Q) trains.

Not Mentioned:

  • Some NB (D) trains are running on the (N) express from DeKalb Avenue, final destinations unknown
  • Some SB (D) trains are running on the (C) from 59th Street to Jay Street-MetroTech then over the (F) to Church Avenue
  • Some SB (Q) trains are running via the Broadway Line from Lexington Ave-63 St to DeKalb Avenue, then via the (D) to Coney Island

On SubwayTime, there are also " (E) 42 St-Bus Term" readings at World Trade Center. Those might be (D) trains. Also, the SB (Q) trains to Coney Island via West End show up as " (F) Stillwell Ave" on the Broadway, 4th Avenue, and West End Lines.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, service is resuming, although with all the trains out of place, it'll take quite some time before service shows some semblance of regular service:

SLOW SPEEDS  Posted: 07/19/2020  3:48PM

(D)(F) and (Q) trains have resumed their regular routes with extensive delays in both directions while our crews continue working to correct a switch problem at 47-50 Sts - Rockefeller Ctr
During this time downtown trains are running at slower speeds in that area.

Thinking about this, if a (Q) train was in the right place and there was a lot of congestion on 6th Avenue, there may have been a possibility where one train (or two), may have ended up on the 8th Avenue Line into upper Manhattan to avoid the mess north of West 4th Street when the switch problem first started.

Why wasn't the (Q) just rerouted via Mountague all the way to 96th St?

They’re doing work along the (Q) Line, my guess is that the work is happening between Lex-63rd and 57th Street, which is why they can’t sent (Q) trains up there anyway.

If that weren’t the case, then there wouldn’t have been a reason to send the (Q) to 6th Avenue in the first place...

Well thats incorrect, because it says "southbound (Q) trains are terminating at 42nd St".

So the work is most likely at DeKalb Av, and to not clog up the (R) they just run it via the (B) to 47th St.

If that was true, (Q) trains would have just operated via the Montague Tunnel in both directions, and they would have not had trains go on 6th Avenue. There's been multiple weekends late last year where both (N) and (Q) trains were running via the Montague Tunnel with the (R). It is very likely that work was being done in that area, and they've halted work. I don't remember which GO it was, but something occurred that required trains to use trains to go through an area where there was work being done. If I'm not mistaken, it was that very section (57th/7th to Lexington Avenue-63rd Street) that was used.

All outdoor stations are closed b.c of the heavy winds from the storm:

(2) trains start/end at 3 Av-149 St, (5) service is suspended.

All (3) trains will start/end at Crown Hts-Utica.

(4) trains will start/end at 149 St-Grand Concourse.

(6) trains will only run between Hunts Point Av and Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall

(7) trains will only run between Hunters Point Av and 34 St-Hudson Yards.

(A) service is all local to/from Euclid Av with the (C) suspended.

(D)  trains are making local stops between Norwood - 205 St and Broadway-Lafayette St  with the (B) suspended.
(F) trains are making local stops between Jamaica - 179 St and Jay St - MetroTech.

The (N) will only run between Lex Av-59 St and 59 St-4 Av via Whitehall St running local as the (W) is suspended.

(Q) trains will only run between 96 St-2 Av and Canal St making local stops.

1 service and L is affected as well

The (Q) could at least run to Whitehall. As for the (N), that could be suspended with (R) running instead (existing (N) on the road converted to (R) service). To end at 59 Street requires a relay outdoors.

As for the (D), that can run to 2 Avenue.

Also, the (1) is starting and ending at 191 Street, bypassing 125 Street, and the last stop outbound for (L) trains is Myrtle-Wyckoff.

Just now, paulrivera said:

I'm fairly certain those trains are running light above ground where possible, but they absolutely wont be carrying passengers.

Except for the (1) over Manhattan Valley, but bypassing 125 Street. As for winds, JFK Airport was reporting hurricane-force gusts...which prompted this decision.

Also, because of a signal malfunction, the (G) isn't running south of Bedford-Nostrand.

For now, the (Q) is only to/from Atlantic Av-Barclays Center via the (R) line.

Also, outdoor stations have resumed slowly as (5) trains start/end at E.180 St heading to Brooklyn College with the (2) .

I was in the middle of editing my earlier post and making a list earlier with all the open portions. Just as I was done, and was ready to post, the power went out , and so did my wifi. Not doing it again because I still don't have power, and I want to preserve the battery on my phone. Also, I'm typing on my phone with uber-slow data. Might actually need to go out to charge my phone later...
