The BMT is in shambles. The Culver line is closed due to signal problems and the West End line is also having signal problems.

Yep, and there was a 13-minute wait for a northbound (N) or (Q) train at Canal St today. The second day in a row with a big gap in service at rush (yesterday’s wait was 11 minutes).  And no announcements of any kind. Same old MTA. Had to take an (R) or (W) and came within seconds of missing my connecting express bus at 36th and 6th.

And now the Brighton line has a broken rail.

7 hours ago, BM5 via Woodhaven said:

Brighton Line and Culver Line are both knocked out:

Part Suspended

There is no (F) service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction because of a signal malfunction between 18 Av and Church Av.

Some southbound (F) trains are stopping along the (D) line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

See a station agent for a courtesy pass to continue your trip on nearby bus routes. See bt.mta.info for real-time bus arrivals.

Multiple Impacts

There is limited (B)  (Q) service between Manhattan and Brooklyn in both directions while our crews make repairs to a rail Prospect Park.

Some southbound (B) trains will end at 2 Av on the (F) line and return northbound for service.

Some southbound (Q) trains will end at Times Sq-42 St

Some southbound (Q) trains are stopping along the (N) line from DeKalb Av to Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

EDIT: Six minutes after service was restored on the Culver Line, there's another incident at Ditmas Avenue:

Trains Rerouted

Northbound (F) trains are stopping along the (D) line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to Broadway-Lafayette St because of FDNY activity at Ditmas Av.

For service to/from bypassed stations, use southbound (F) service.

Delays

(F) trains have resumed service between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in both directions following an earlier signal malfunction between 18 Av and Church Av.

Continue to expect significant delays as we work to get trains back on schedule.

Actually, last I checked it was more than just signal problems along Culver, I saw a video about it catching on fire.

(B) service ended early as per MTA Twitter:

Jesus, what an absolute mess.

It's getting newsworthy at this point, honestly.

There is no southbound (R)(W) service at City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St-South Ferry, Court St or Jay St-MetroTech while we investigate what activated a train's brakes twice near City Hall. There is no (W) service between Canal St and Whitehall St-South Ferry in either direction. The last stop on southbound W trains is Canal St. Southbound R trains are running on the (Q) line from Canal St to DeKalb Av. Alternatives For southbound service to/from those stations, take a northbound R train. For northbound service at Whitehall St-South Ferry, Rector St, Cortlandt St and City Hall, take R trains. For southbound service to/from Lower Manhattan, take (4)(5) trains to/from nearby stations. Posted: 6/18/21 10:41 AM

There was a similar power loss either yesterday or on Sunday as well around that area. Don't know if the pattern was also cause for investigation.

It certainly sounds like someone was doing something that was causing these to happen.

(A) is out north of 181 due to flooding at Dykeman, surprised that's the only weather related service change right now.

I was on a Bronx Bound (D) train that got held right before 125th St at around 5:00, the (A) was already out and was ending at 125th, 145th and 168th Sts. I didn't attribute this to the rain since I didn't know it was raining and there wasn't any particularly wet people. All the PA said was a signal malfunction, i guess the rain just exacerbated the issue.

Southbound 1 trains are running express from 137 St-City College to 96 St while our crews move a train with a mechanical problem at 116 St-Columbia University. For service to/from bypassed stations take a northbound train. Expect delays in 2 and 3 train service as they share the track with rerouted 1trains.

Is this true that 2 and 3 trains share a track coming into 96th st in this scenario?

What? The (2) and (3) shouldn't be affected here as the (1) would still merge back onto the local tracks coming into 96 St. Someone probably doesn't know about the track layouts.

Well, it could affect them if they were shifted to the local track for some reason.

On a side note, the MTA website still lists the (2) suspended north of Gun Hill Road, and it's been like that since the afternoon. Wonder what that's all about.

  • 2 weeks later...

(S) trains are not operating to/from Rockaway Boulevard like they are scheduled to do so today. They're only operating to/from Broad Channel.

Part Suspended

There is no (S) service between Broad Channel and Rockaway Blvd.

We’re running as much service as we can with the crews we have available.

Take the (A) train to/from Broad Channel for continued service.
