Trains Rerouted

(Q) trains are rerouted in Manhattan while we are unable to move track switches at 57 St-7 Av.

(Q) trains are running on the (D) line between DeKalb Av and 34 St-Herald Sq and via the (F) line to/from Lexington Av/63 St.

Alternatives

Take (N)(R) trains and transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or 34 St-Herald Sq.

Local to Express

Northbound (F) trains are running express from Avenue X to Kings Hwy while we investigate why a train's brakes activated at Avenue U.

If your stop is skipped, take a southbound train.

Expect longer waits for northbound trains.

Huh? 🤨 I thought those switches were fixed in place while the switches south of Prince Street would be used to move (Q) trains between the local and express tracks. Was the (Q) supposed to be Broadway local today??

No, but I wonder if it was moved for a particular OOS train, and then it just stopped working or something.

Speaking of which, here's another (Q) service change:

Express to Local

Northbound (Q) trains are running on the local track from Canal St to 34 St-Herald Sq because of a signal problem at Prince St.

I think the issue was the signal problem at Prince St AND the inability to move track switches due to lack of switch crew members at 57 St-7 Av. I think 57 St-7 Av controls the switches at 34 St-Herald Sq too. Similar to how the (A) express service in Brooklyn gets cancelled when they’re unable to move track switches at Hoyt-Schermerhorn

Well then...

Suspended

There is extremely limited service on (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(L) while we investigate a power surge affecting much of New York City.

If possible, travel on lettered lines (not L) or buses. Use the MYmta app or new.mta.info to find bus options near you.

See a station agent and receive a Courtesy Pass for a free transfer to other subway/bus lines.

The Siemens signal equipment (ATS for the IRT and the (L) CBTC) must not hold up well against power surges I reckon...

Thales (QBL CBTC) and the legacy equipment seem to have held up... Either that or the RCC completely melted down.

I'm just making assumptions though.

(7) train service is running, but the others are still out.

Also:

Suspended

(M) train service is temporarily suspended while emergency teams respond to someone who was struck by a train at Knickerbocker Av.

As an alternative, consider taking the B54 and/or Q58 bus. See nearby buses at bustime.mta.info

See a station agent and receive a courtesy pass for continuing service.

According to the stringline data,  (2) and (4) service is still pretty sporadic in Manhattan

There are also a couple of (5) in Manhattan, as well as (3) in Brooklyn

(3) trains are replacing (4) trains in Brooklyn, since the latter is only running to Bowling Green.

This could be the first many service changes tonight:

Local to Express

(B)(C)(D) trains are delayed and/or rerouted because we are unable to move switches at 59 St-Columbus Circle

(D) trains are running on the local track in both directions between 59 St-Columbus Circle and 145 St.

(C) trains are running on the express track in both directions between 145 St and Canal St.

Expect longer waits for (A)(B) trains while sharing the tracks with rerouted trains.

For service to/from 50 St, take a downtown train.

For service to/from Spring St and 23 St, take the (E) train.

(C) trains will arrive/depart the (A) platform at 34 St-Penn Station.

Train service is extremely limited, if not even suspended, because of heavy rainfall and flooding across the region. We strongly recommend you avoid traveling at this time, if you can. Check http://mta.info before you travel.

mta.info shows every single subway route underneath "suspended"

(W) Suspended

(Z) Not running outside rush hours

I highlighted some trains that have either updated or are wrong:

ALL (4) trains from Woodlawn turn at Burnside Avenue (New York University) due to Mott's upper level unsuitable for a turnaround as a result of accessibility improvement and flooding on the Mosholu tunnel. (4) trains out of 125-Lex go out to East New York to fill in for the (3) train that is running the Broadway - 7 Av Shuttle due to flooding in the Clark Street tube.

Select (2) trains run via the Mosholu interlocking south of Mott Avenue (the original platform) to go to Crown Heights Utica to fill in for the (4) train while going around the Clark Street tube and 142 Street Junction.

(5) trains are running to Bowling Green as of around 2:20 as a result of flooding on the Joralemon tube; they were previously split at East 180 and 125-Lex in addition to Bowling Green.

The (D) train is running full limited service due to flooding on the Grand Concourse and DeKalb tubes.

The (N) train is split; all (N) trains out of Ditmars turn at Queensboro Plaza due to flooding on the 60 Street tube.

The (GG) train is running full limited service as of 12:25 due to flooding through the Greenpoint tube.

The Franklin :SS: has been reactivated with limited service as of around 2:10 as a result of it's open cut nature.

The (A) train is running local in both directions alongside the (CC) on the full route as a result of flooding on the Cranberry Street tube.

It doesn't look like the Rockaway (H) train is running the full route; it's only running from Broad Channel to Far Rock. I think Holland, Playland, Seaside and Beach 116 are closed, but Gaston Avenue, Straiton Avenue, Frank Avenue, Edgemere, Wavecrest, and Far Rockaway are open.
