Work is now happening 24/7 to make it to the New Year's Eve deadline.

Man, They're adamant on 2016 huh? Not sure if I'd be opposed to February or March opening especially if that means the work will be done correctly. I guess they screwed up so much that they have no choice but to come through. Reputation on the line!

Good! The (MTA) will finally get something done "on time." If that means 24/7 work, then that's just fine. More projects in this country should be 24/7 affairs. I'm sure they'll find a way to disincentivize sloppy work and mistakes.

Well folks, here we are... It's time for the final installment of SAS newsletters...

Lexington Av-63 Street: 99% (I'm assuming they are rounding down to 99 instead of up to 100)

72nd Street: 94.6%  (http://web.mta.info/capital/sas_pdf/SASNewsletter72nd-Dec2016.pdf)

86th Street: 94.6% (http://web.mta.info/capital/sas_pdf/SASNewsletter86th-Dec2016.pdf)

96th Street: 97.8% (http://web.mta.info/capital/sas_pdf/SASNewsletter96th-Dec2016.pdf)

If those three numbers seem low, remember that tree plantings along 2nd Avenue and sidewalk restorations, the public plaza at 95th St, turnstiles, station agent booths, and MVMs count towards the 100% goal...

EDIT: The 72nd St and 86th St completion percentages are from the previous letter and are incorrect...

I don't understand that either. I also expected LED's in the rehabbed Montague tunnel and the new Javitz extension. They go into the same fixtures the CFL's use. I wonder if it is some contractual thing (like they were ordered before they began using LED's, though that wouldn't make sense for Montague).

Cause LED lighting gives out a different color than ones in the SAS tunnels.

Both LED and CFL bulbs come in a variety of color temperatures. You can get LED bulbs in 2700 (incandescent), 3100 (halogen), 4000 (cool white), or 5000 k (daylight). CFLs come in the same variety of color temps. Older bulbs (CFL and LED) had some odd color casts, but that's no longer true with newer CFL and LED bulbs. You can't easily tell them apart by the color alone.

Perhaps MTA traditionally bought 4000k CFL bulbs and 3100k LED bulbs (for example) in the past, but that doesn't mean new LED purchases won't be a different color temp (that matches the CFLs you've seen in service.)

Cuomo was at 72nd Street earlier this afternoon. From what I could see in the photos, the platform and mezzanine are pretty much ready for service...

Oh, and before I forget, it was captioned, "pushing hard for opening by January 1"

Yeah, I dunno. That photo of Cuomo standing right next to the "48 HOUR TEST BEING PERFORM NO ONE IS ALLOWED NEARBY ESCALATOR" sign... isn't encouraging. And all of those wires hanging from the ceiling?

I didn't see that tweet, I saw the one above it...

But still testing is supposed to wrap up next week. I assume after that its just removing all the construction equipment and giving the station a little scrub down.
