You forgot B103 route revision in Park Slope.
Amtrak7 Posted May 6, 2012 #3 Posted May 6, 2012 The LIC inset is a nice addition but it needs more magnification.
Mysterious2train Posted May 6, 2012 Author #4 Posted May 6, 2012 You forgot B103 route revision in Park Slope. I believe that was on the previous map.
B35 via Church Posted May 6, 2012 #5 Posted May 6, 2012 I've been suggesting a LIC inset for quite some time now.... Good to see one exist now, but it should be shown on the Queens map... and as was said, enlarged more (IMO, similar to the flushing inset).... don't really need to show/enlarge too much of the area south of Court sq. either..... - I wish they fix up the Broadway Junction area... There's no need for an inset of it, but it still looks like scribble-scrabble... - Also, fix the B61 routing around Gowanus - buses do not use "garnet st" at all, nor do they travel down hamilton av to get to smith st (like the map suggests)... The brooklyn map's been showing that incorrect routing ever since the B77 got discontinued..... - B62 routing, same thing... northbound buses off park, take classon av to get to kent st; you can't go southbound on classon to get to park (like the map suggests).... The brooklyn map's been showing that inaccuracy since the '90's (long before the old B61 split)..... [For those that are unfamiliar w/ the streets, looking at the map, it's the area where the B62 meets the B57 & the B48]
Threxx Posted May 7, 2012 #6 Posted May 7, 2012 I believe that was on the previous map. No, it wasn't...
B35 via Church Posted May 7, 2012 #7 Posted May 7, 2012 I can't edit my prior post, but another one I forgot to mention is the B49 routing towards it's northbound terminal (Franklin/Fulton).... Buses don't use Hancock st anymore..... That re-route was due to the Fulton st reconstruction back in '07/'08....
Threxx Posted May 7, 2012 #8 Posted May 7, 2012 I can't edit my prior post, but another one I forgot to mention is the B49 routing towards it's northbound terminal (Franklin/Fulton).... Buses don't use Hancock st anymore..... That re-route was due to the Fulton st reconstruction back in '07/'08.... They don't?
S78 via Hylan Posted May 7, 2012 #9 Posted May 7, 2012 They don't? Nope. the B49 has returned to it's original routing ever since.
B35 via Church Posted May 7, 2012 #10 Posted May 7, 2012 They don't? Nah.... As was mentioned, B49's went back to its regular routing.... that is, left off bedford onto fulton, then another left onto franklin where it terminates... ------------------------------ As far as I've noticed, None of the other boroughs' bus maps have old/incorrect routings still illustrated on their current maps....
Threxx Posted May 7, 2012 #11 Posted May 7, 2012 I feel like the mistakes are just because there isn't enough space to draw more accurate routings.
Mysterious2train Posted May 7, 2012 Author #12 Posted May 7, 2012 No, it wasn't... Yes, it was. The last map was dated from last month, and that's when the B103 change was made on the map. The re-route has been in effect for a couple of months now.
B35 via Church Posted May 7, 2012 #13 Posted May 7, 2012 I feel like the mistakes are just because there isn't enough space to draw more accurate routings. The mistakes, I think is due to flat out negligence.....
BrooklynBus Posted May 8, 2012 #14 Posted May 8, 2012 Some may be negligence but the other explanation of there not being enough room is also true in some cases. The map shows the B36 as going straight along Avenue Z but in reality it dips down a block to the Station in both directions.
B35 via Church Posted May 8, 2012 #15 Posted May 8, 2012 Some may be negligence but the other explanation of there not being enough room is also true in some cases. The map shows the B36 as going straight along Avenue Z but in reality it dips down a block to the Station in both directions. I was very specific when I italicized the word mistakes in my last post.... The B36 going straight on Av. Z I don't see as negligence/as a mistake..... That to me, I see as is intentional.... I'm not implicating they have to show every little turn on the map...... The other ones I pointed out (B49, B61, B62), there's no excuse for it.... Update the map, why don't they....
BrooklynBus Posted May 8, 2012 #16 Posted May 8, 2012 The other ones I pointed out (B49, B61, B62), there's no excuse for it.... Update the map, why don't they.... You are correct. There is no reason to show a three year-old routing or a mistake that should have been corrected in the 90s. It's just sloppiness and the fact that the people making the maps don't know the routes themselves. If the strip map they are using is old or has a mistake, they won't pick it up. I must have told you that in 1981, I asked to see the map before it was sent to the printers. Good thing because I remember staying to 10 PM in the office and picking up 96 errors. They stopped the presses and the map was released two weeks late After it was printed I found another six that I had missed the first time. This was the first map showing neighborhoods, parks, etc so there were loads of mistakes in that area. The only mistake I still remember correcting was that they had the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park Zoo reversed and of course they had Gardens instead of Garden.
Rick44 Posted May 8, 2012 #17 Posted May 8, 2012 Did anybody catch the Atlantic Av-Pacific St train station name change? It's now "Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr".
B35 via Church Posted May 9, 2012 #18 Posted May 9, 2012 Did anybody catch the Atlantic Av-Pacific St train station name change? It's now "Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr". Yep, sure did.... Reason I didn't say anything was b/c I thought that change might have been on the last map....
KeystoneRegional Posted May 9, 2012 #19 Posted May 9, 2012 Well, hey it's a free map so you can't really complain much, at least it's detailed and useful it's awesome, best of all you don't need to pay a penny extra for it.
BM5 via Woodhaven Posted May 10, 2012 #20 Posted May 10, 2012 It says Q29,Q45 to Jackson Heights Still
