@guiness316. I have my CDL b passenger already. Just wondering how hard is the bus operator driving training??

as long as you pay attention and follow instruction you will be fine. Already a step ahead having the license already, only have to pass the 7-10 day training instead of passing both that and DMV road test.

Hi guys! I actually haven't been here in a few months.....just checking to see if my old friends like Dre, Young and Troop are still around. I passed training in Day 10 back in February so I'm just checking how the new guys are doing....wow up to 2100 already??

Well I wish you guys all the luck and I'll be on here every now and then. If anyone has to goto day 10, don't sweat it just do what you were taught and you should be ok.

How many people who have list number between 2000-2100 have been through their medical yet? I did the first drug test.

That's pretty for everyone right now, I just did the drug test and now I'm waiting to take the medical... Still waiting on that call

I'm still here waiting for the call to take my second drug test. But that won't come till next year since it's no more classes for the rest of the year.

How can that be? How could the kid have a list number in the 2100's when people with lower list numbers are still waiting? How did he jump the line?

Ahh how come you have to take a second drug test? Was it because the other one expired??

Well hopefully you will be called soon!

Whenever you take a drug test, it is valid for thirty (30) days. After 30 days, you have to take another one if required.

Back when I went through the hiring process, I took my second drug test on December 20th (argument sake) and I came back to get cleared of my medical hold (with my muscle spasm, for those who remember) on January 21st, since I had to go to my Primary Doctor then a Specialist. So I had to take another drug test! If I had come back a few days, or a week sooner, I would have gotten by without a third drug test, plus I think I would've gotten into an earlier class at Zerega.

Now, if this meant getting a different instructor, probably but sometimes we can't look back at things. What's done is done.

For those current employees, I was wondering if you could help me out with something:

For those who remember, when I went down for medical on December 31st, the TA physician put me on medical hold since she diagnosed me with muscle spasm in my legs. I was on medical hold for close to a month, since I had to see my regular doctor, a neurologist and get some tests done, including an MRI of the brain. After all was done, my second drug test expired, which extended the wait time to go to Zerega a little longer.

Like I previously said, I took other exams, including B/O exam 4600 (which will be interesting depending on when they establish the list) and Track Worker exam 3600. Since I have this condition, I'm willing to go to the neurologist in between the time I take my first drug test and when I go for medical with the hope of avoiding to be on medical hold for another 2 to 4 weeks, compared to a few days. Does anyone have any knowledge about this? Will MAC (Medical Assessment Center) accept a letter from a doctor about a medical condition if it is 1 to 2 weeks old? One to two months old?

Thanks in advance...

I would assume its a case by case basis, won't know until the time comes.

who knows and who knows if its entirely accurate. Just passing along what was said.

So what you guys are saying is they won't call anyone anymore until next year? So now the drug test will expire and we will have to start all over again?

yes you will have to take a drug test again & there are no guarantees hiring starts up again after the New Year, it could be a hiring freeze until further notice.

Its not a hiring freeze, they just don't need anymore people yet. retirements for 2014 are mostly done. The general consolidated pick is ongoing until Dec. 5 goes into effect Jan. 4, 2015. Depots are currently at Max capacity until new year starts. 126 street is closing Operators are moving around. Bronx, Manhattan Brooklyn. They have to see where their needs are before they can re-start the process.

could very well be a hiring freeze, a ton of drivers hired over the last year. They have there retirements in because operators were holding on until contract was signed for their retro. That's done with now. Also general pick isn't over til Dec 19th - I don't pick til the 18th.

This explanation makes sense to me. The last official across the board hiring freeze was back in 2009 and well publicized in the press:

http://www.wnyc.org/story/74661-mta-issues-hiring-freeze/

As people retire, do stupid things/get fired, promoted or move on to different things positions will open up at some time (hopefully soon). Though 126 Depot is closing another, expanded one opens in it's place MC Hale Depot.

And if the next class to the academy begins next year on the first week, we'll maybe be behind 250 or so folks, not that bad, though I am waiting for 4600 to get going.
