NJ Transit to add train cars & buses to handle Rangers-Devils and Bamboozle

"NJ Transit will be closely watching the number of people taking trains and buses into New York for the opening game of the Devils-Rangers NHL Eastern Conference finals tomorrow, and may “increase capacity,” a spokesman said today.

“We will be monitoring ridership levels and trends very closely and will make any adjustments to meet increased demands,” said spokesman John Durso Jr.

NJ Transit may add cars to its trains headed for New York Penn Station to accommodate the hockey playoff games at Madison Square Garden at 8 p.m. tomorrow and Wednesday, Durso said. The agency could also deploy extra buses if needed, he said."

Wonder if PATH will do the same thing for the series?

If i was Path management i would run rush hour headways on the Newark-WTC and 33rd-Journal Sq. until 8pm. Then post game every 6-8 minutes on the newark-wtc say between 930pm-11pm(assuming games do not go into overtimes)

 

This applies whether the games are in Newark or MSG.

Extra Revenue coming in: Why not? If this goes 7 games, money goes into Path, MTA, NJT, and other transit companies trying to get to NY

Not to get off topic, but in joe's neck of the woods, the local TTC officals are hoping for just a 1st round NHL playoff game with the lowly Maple Leafs lol. Or any playoff games for the Blue Jays or Raptors for that matter as well. While in Metro NYC area, 2 area teams are in the Stanley Cup Semifinals

Just this week TTC officals did say the system is running at all time ridership though! This is no joke either!

This series will start on monday at 8pm so there has to be more trains or buses and with it comes risk of trouble because there will be some knuckleheads but other than this will be great for all fans using the system

NJ Transit is already planning on extra service to Asbury Park, NJ (NJCL) for Bamboozle this weekend

 

353 bus AND Meadowlands rail line for Electric Daisy Carnival at Met Life Stadium this weekend

 

Both events, 3 days, same weekend
