Shortline Bus Posted June 22, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2012 An update. My sister told me this morning 6/22/12 My Mother had a second very mild stroke in 10 years. The mild stroke was caused by Hyponatremia a low blood sodium level. Not to mention she developed Shingles as well. So in nutshell the only bright news she is home from hosptial and under STRICT BED REST for 3 days. Thus while there chance she could return to hopstial, she seems better talking to her on phone this morning. For now i can continue things normally but at any time i may need to fly to San Diego if she gets worse again. And hopefully try to visit her in August for few days as well. Guys thanks for the well wishes. And thus why diabetes really needs to be addressed more my friend. My mom until 8 years ago, was basically never sick i.e illness/diease until she had the stroke. Doctors missed she had diabetes which was main cause of this one on Thursday and 7-8 years back. Thus why medical checkups are important guys. After a weekend of strict "Bed Rest" after her brief stroke (caused from diabetes and being speific gettinng both hyponatremia which means her salt intake is too low into her body and also shingles), My mom does not have to return to the hosptial at least for now. hyponatremia http://answers.yahoo...19134758AAjkLUB shingles http://www.seniorjou...lesADisease.htm However the bad news is she must stay home in bed for another week of "bed rest." Not to mention my sister and Brother in Law who live/take care of her, also got the shingles. And they both only in their 50's. Not to mention my mom now at higher risk for MS. With that said, at least probably in about 2 weeks my mom should be better. My sister and Brother in law since shingles is basically chicken pox, should be cleared in couple of days.
