Boris The Animal Posted July 13, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 13, 2013 Allow me to chime in since I live here. IMHO, the Light Rail is a colossal joke considering it just goes up and down from one end of Main St. in the city to the other at UB South Campus. Downtown in particular was torn up for nearly seven years to accommodate the Pedestrian Mall. Now, we are in the process of reintroducing vehicular traffic on that stretch of Main. Also, the Tokyu Light Rail cars are going in two at a time for their midlife overhauls.

Minato ku Posted August 4, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 4, 2013 I read that Buffalo LRT has underground section in the periphery and surface section in Downtown. The oposite of what we have in Europe with underground light rail line.
RailBus63 Posted August 7, 2013 Share #10 Posted August 7, 2013 I read that Buffalo LRT has underground section in the periphery and surface section in Downtown. The oposite of what we have in Europe with underground light rail line. That is true. The surface section downtown is just over one mile long. The tunnel outside of the downtown area actually works well because the trains can operate much faster than they would if it was a surface line with many grade crossings.
