About Numbers Assigned to Deviant Rush Hour IRT Services

Lemme guess, you want to change the A going to Lefferts to the K train too?

Unlike the (2) to New Lots and the (5) to Utica or 238th, the split (A) service between Lefferts and Far Rockaway is in effect seven days a week. It makes much more sense to give those branches separate letters because the splitting of the (A) is not limited to rush hours only.

Now if someone suggested renaming the Rockaway Park (A) service the (K), then that would be the same as giving the New Lots-bound (2) or 238th St bound (5) a different number (and just as pointless) because the Rock Park (A) is limited solely to rush hours.

By all the "logic" in here, those Showcases to Rock Park should be signed up as a (S) , not a (K) .....

What about the (2)'s to South Ferry, that are signed up as (1)'s? I'm sure they don't start at 241st as (1)'s.

Those are C/R's who didn't read the bulletin on proper signage and are changing the train to a 1 in order to load the South Ferry local program.

That's why I suggest retaining (A) for that service since it makes (A) line stops for most of its route and is a limited rush hour service, unlike the Lefferts and Far Rock branches.
