UlmerPark B6 Posted July 16, 2008 #1 Posted July 16, 2008 The American League won it again. No tie. It was the bottom of the 15. Both down to the last pitchers. Base Loaded. 1 Out. Young hits a fairly deep ball to right fielder, Coery Hart, Minnesota's Twin Morneau scores after tagging. The game would have been over and the NL would ahve won, but the Mets closer, Billy Wagner blew the 3-2 lead. He let the game get tied after giving about a RBI double. J.D. Drew of the Red Sox was named MVP All-Star Game. He went 2-for-4 with a single and a 2-run dinger. If the game went into the 16 Inning, first it would have gotten into the Book of Records, and second both teams would be out of pitchers. THe NL agreed to use David Wright to pitch and the AL never thought about it. Well anyway the AL won led by stupid Boston Red Sox skipper Terry Francona. He took great hitters out of the game too early like, A-Rod, Jeter, and Manny Ramirez. It would have been interesting to see David Wright pitch. The game ended at 1:37 and I did not get anysleep. NOTE: I was not at the All-Star Game.

I watched parts of the game, turned the tv off after the American league had the bases loaded with no outs in the 10th,was shocked that the game went 15 innings when I found out this morning. I get nervous when Billy Wagner is in a pressure situation. I think Hoffman blew the save last year or the year before.
MattTrain Posted July 16, 2008 #3 Posted July 16, 2008 There were reports of Red Sox's JD Drew pitching for the American League if the Rays' Scott Kazmir couldn't pitch anymore. This American League trend goes on and on and on.... Dan Uggla (Marlins) needs to field better more. He's like the Bill Buckner of the NL. Albert Pujols (Cardinals) Lance Berkman (Astros) and Chipper Jones (Braves) weren't as effective of hitters Every player elected to this game played, that's a good thing. At one point, the American League ran out of position players to come off that bench. Terry Francona (Red Sox) should be so lucky that he didn't have the last players, Ian Kinsler (Rangers), Grady Sizemore (Indians), Dionner Navarro (Rays), Justin Morenau (Twins) Carlos Quentin (White Sox) Michael Young (Rangers) JD Drew (Red Sox) and forgot the other two, tire out Pitching was great Matt Holliday also homered for the National League Four Straight years that both the NL and AL hit a Home run Each. Great game!
Pablo M 201 Posted July 16, 2008 #4 Posted July 16, 2008 Aw man, what a game. I didn't watch the game entirely from beginning to end, but it was like what 11:30 when I really paid attention to the game and was shocked it was in the 10th inning. It was brutal watching it but hell, worth it in the end. I had a feeling Michael Young was going to win it for us and that happened in the 15th inning. Talk about last mid-summer classic at the cathedral of baseball. People were really in for their money yesterday.

All-Star patch for no reason.

7LineFan Posted July 16, 2008 #7 Posted July 16, 2008 Man, I watched the entire thing. By the middle of the 11th I was wondering who was gonna end it and when it was gonna end. The AL blew soooo many chances to put the game to sleep. I mean seriously, bases loaded and no out, and you don't score a run? I was like, "OK, if this thing goes past 2:00 I'm going to sleep," but fortunately it didn't. And, thanks to Michael Young, I got to wear my American League cap today...
