What are the chances of MTA still hiring from list 3600 after June’s pick? Have they ever had a hiring freeze, allowed a pick, then went back to hiring?

i spoke to someone on the track who said that the reason they freezing during the pick is because they don’t want dudes to switch departments so quick. Not sure what that specifically means but just sharing what I’ve been told.

What's the final exam like after the three weeks of training

Basic stuff like what tool is for what, what direction of traffic to walk, you should have taken a test before you left for OJT that is similar. Flagging test is the one you need to worry about.

There was a small hiring freeze back in sept or so when Livingston sent the list back to DCAS, it only lasted little more then a month though.

The new seniority book came out today. So it looks like the pick really is actually coming next month (which im thrilled about because im trying to go nights in queens somewhere) but I also think that means that the may 21st class is gonna be the last one and that they are gonna stop hiring (at the very least, for a while). Take that with a grain of salt because I'm new so I may not know what I'm talking about but thats what the senior guys seem to think. I hope thats not the case for you guys and that you guys get in so I can have some people under me in seniority haha. good luck yall

The guys that came to our quarters two weeks ago are not even on the list so I think they have at lease two classes aren't even on that list

And someone posted yesterday that the pic was out

Did u mean the pic was out or that the new senroity list was out because all I saw was the sinority list

List shows only about 2,150 track workers, I thought they had to have a little more then that. That may class would had 50 more but think they are still short by at least 2 more classes...

The seniority list should be at least in the 2400's

Sup guys. I've been watching the replys on this forum for some time and it really helped me so I figure I'll share my hiring process with you guys and hopefully it helps you. My list number is extremely low (won't give exact # being that some of the info I will give will make it obvious to whoever is in the class with me on 9-11)

To start : I was called in march of 2015 to start the process but did not respond due to a knee injury I was recovering from. When i fully recovered , I re-instated my list number which took about 3-4 weeks to get called down to Livingston street to start the process

I got a letter to come in sept 2016 to start the process. Took the drug urine test and got the results in October that I failed the drug test (tested + for marijuana). I was allowed to go through a substance abuse program(SAP) suggested by MTA. They give you about 3 SAP programs and you chose. The program cost about 600 dollars for 1 day. They just talk about how drugs are bad and things like that. When you finish, they give you a certificate and contact MTA that you completed it , then MTA contacts you to come back down to start the process over. Be advised, the lab associates were surprised that I was given another opportunity to the hiring process . They kept saying I'm lucky and that it's rare for them to invite you back down.

It took from 10/16-03/17 which is 5 months , to schedule and make the class for the SAP program .

After completing the program , the SAP never sent confirmation to MTA that I completed the program. I had proof via the completion certificate but they still needed the programist to personally confirm which took 2 months because , ofcourse, she was on vacation.

Took the 2nd drug in May 2017 which I passed. Next step is the medical/physical exam with the ekg test, blood pressure, hearing and vision, breathing test etc. Failed the ekg test and was put on medical hold. The mta doctors told me what Exactly my personal doctor needed to do/write to clear me. Came back a week later and was cleared but the class was full.

MTA clerical associates are very sloppy . Twice has my paperwork been misplaced or not sent to the correct persons to move up on the hiring process. I called in Augusts wondering why I have not been notified in July to come down and complete the hiring process. The lab never sent my drug test results from June 2017 which is why I missed the July class smh

Long story short fellas , be consistent with your employement process. I was calling about twice a week when I did not hear anything for 2-3 weeks at a time until my calls sped things up. They will forget about you. I waited one time about 2 months thinking that they're working on my application, then called to find out the status and they said they can't find my paperwork. If you guys don't hear back within 2-3 weeks, call them and inquire about your application or results or whatever it is you did last. Hope this helps

when i was there processing, thier hr guy said its not their concern, what mv u get after u submit your paperwork.

you should consult in-person, at the livingston hr processing desk with HR, as a general question rather than telling them his driving record outright. i would ask two different hr people

either there going to say, pay the ticket and continue processing, stop processing, pay, comeback- but u might miss a class... or whatever tix u got doesn’t apply to employment  at this point.

with 11pts, i would at least like to know my options, before.

Personally i think, if its not a driving position ......and like correction law 23a,  transit should not prohibit employment strictly on pendency of moving violations. Rather, it should allow the applicant to  resolve  and process, or evaluate the violations case by case if applicant is unable to resolve at processing.

keep in mind trackworker in itself requires no liscense...u can be processed even if u never had a drvs lisc.

there are some drv picks in track, but then  u are simply processed again for driving specfic...its not like  they use old trackworker paperwork........they check your  current license, your abstract, and then enter your driver info into the special dmv monitor system, which automatically  dectects when a ticket is entered against you....Its just like the arrest notification system  MTA collaborates with NYS dcjs

keep that in mind, OP, when u have 11+ pts and want any driving job/pick in transit

I’ve never had a licensce and was hired so that is true, it’s kind strange how they are about the points. They made one guy in my class wait about two years for points to disappear before he was able to get on. You need a CDL for the drive positions though so that might by why.

For this job is a license is required? Do you need a license or good driving record to get this job?

Nah, although from what's been stated in the thread multiple times, you are able to bid into specialist jobs including truck driving.

Man two accidents and a red light conviction

Bro it's guys at my quarters with 8 and nine felonies on there record and they got hired

u just have to tell them the truth about ur stuff and they will hire u

One guy just got out of prison in Feb 2017  and he got hired this past  November

And points don't matter if u not driving

It May matter. If there are any fines, I suggest you pay them off ASAP. I’ve seen many people get held up at processing due to traffic issues.

Not trying to be a downer or anything, but I thought they were stopping classes for awhile? Hopefully they can get the main pick finished in the meantime.
