Hey young I think you were in my class Jan 27

No...I was in the February 10th class. I would have made the January 27th class, but since my medical hold took so long to take care of, plus taking a third drug test (since the second one expired after a month), it got moved to February 10th.

Not that its any of my business BK but why. I discovered this board because of your posts on another forum. You helped me out a lot with all the info you provided (reliable info). Was hoping you got in ASAP. Anyway, a lot of people are turning it down. I'm just curious as to why. Thanks again for all the posts you made. They helped a lot of people.

Im glad that the info. I provided helped u and others, just as the info. I received from from this forum helped me out alot.

The reason i took my name off the list ( and as long as this list is active ( for the next four years), i can and will put my name back on the list), was because im already in the system. I took a *provisional* structure maintainer posistion that they called me for. Although Track is a permanent position this one pays more and i get to work a trade like on the out side. So thats the reason, but i am in the system already, thanks and good luck to you UPO 1. Just MAKE SURE All your paperwork is on point. Take care of what ever tickes u have. I seen alot of people get turned away and miss a class for simple stuff. GOOD LUCK to all!!

Congratulations to all of you soon to start school.

For those who will be starting Track School soon at P.S.248 in Brooklyn just some info- If your driving try to get there at least a half hour early. On street parking can get rough around the school. There is a very small parking lot half taken up by Police you may get a spot in.

Also, if you use your GPS near the school it will have you make a left onto a one way street going the wrong way, lol. Everyone I know complains about it.

There's a Dunkin Donuts nearby and a good Deli called "John's". It can get crowded around lunch time. The school has a decent lunch room to eat in if you bring your own.

Good luck!!!!!

Good luck to all, hey it wont hurt to eat right until that day, just cut out on the junk foods, sugar and salts. It cant hurt. So many people get held back ( or even miss a class) because of medical holds. And dont forget they will scrutinize your 21 page booklet. So dont leave no question marks. You will probably be there all day but the reward is way better than " we will contact u with-in 3-90 days" lol good luck guys!

Got my letter in the mail to go down to livingston on Monday. List was between 519-530.

Question though, me getting fired(well tech not fired since they just told me to go home and wait for them to call and they never called me back to sign anything) from a job back in 03, will that negatively affect my chances ..given its been over 10 years and have pretty stellar employment record since

I guess you never had a government job before marcel. So i'll explain how it typically works for you and anyone who never had a government job on the forum. There is no interview and they don't really care much about your job history even though they ask about it. Once you pass the test and get your letter you pretty much have the job. The only thing that can screw it up for you is YOU. Nothing that your past employer can say can screw it up for you unless you were convicted of stealing from them or something. In the government sector your test score is your resume and your drug test is your interview. Do good on those and the job is yours. This is not corporate. There is no ass kissing to get the job. You are either qualified via your score and drug test or you are not. No one can prevent you from getting the job by doing petty things like talking negatively about you like in corporate. Don't worry. You have the job already. Its just a matter of getting your call to come in for final processing. That depends on how many people are ahead of you. That's all that really matters. Apparently a lot of people have been getting turned away. So as long as you pass your drug test you are in. Most likely the class after this one. If you will be in the oct 5 class they will cal you in for final processing by oct 2. That's when I go in for final processing. The guy on the other end told me to give my job notice. He wouldn't recklessly tell me to do that if I wasn't starting on the 5th.

this is correct, they are be big on drugs, crminals and obvious dishonesty. baring law enforcement, teaching,  and fire, govt jobs usually dont focus on petty firings. that because they ae contrained by civil service law when your on the list. they can 1 and 3 you but u can retore your name. even LE has to state why they disqualified you and that can be appealed. The law spefically states the rules of disqual.  In the a sense Civil Ser sort of evens the playing field  against the well connected or previlage portion of society-in terms of being able to make a decents living

thats irrelvant, just state it in reason for leaving in app and cpd b.... i have stated i was fired as well, they cared more about  current litigation, and being physcally qualified for the job.

you definitely got lucky. I was there for almost 8 hours. Once I got in the room a bunch of bus operators came in for randoms and skipped everyone. I think one dude got busted. He looked high and was escorted in by someone with a badge. Started going back to the gym yesterday. I'll be damned if I start, get injured, and miss out on all that OT this winter. For any of you guys in your 20s you might not have to but I'm creeping up on 40 everybody in my age group knows how it is at this point. Shit deteriorates real quick.

...Once you pass the test and get your letter you pretty much have the job....

Just keep in mind that, depending on the exact position, you also have to to pass either the Track Worker class, School Car, the intense 10-day B/O training session, etc. in addition to a year of probation. Once you get through all of that, then you're good to go...
