Would having a CDL help you in any way in terms of moving to a better division or getting better pay? Any info?

Yes, it's an advantage to have one. Many specialist jobs require a CDL and most people don't have them.

Sorry for all the questions, but can someone also explain or breakdown mta's pension plan for a track worker versus a pension from say working for the sanitation? i thought i heard someone say you get a full pension if you work for the mta as opposed to 50% as in the city jobs but this doesnt seem true to me. any info?

Go to www.nycers.org and click on "transit 25/55" plan. Edited by SpikeMauler

Hey guys/gals!

very excited news to see the list has been published.  My list number is in the 280's,

When do you think we'll start hearing something about interviews and medicals and so on?

For those of you who don't want to call DCAS, here is an online version of the list

So as of 10/27/14 (yesterday), this was posted at http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3600.htm:

LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (UPDATED)

The list for Track Worker has been made public effective October 22, 2014. All candidates should receive their official Notice of Results in early November 2014. When a list is made public, results are released but the list will not be used for hiring purposes for an additional 60 days. Please refer to the additional information sheet included with your Notice of Results on what numbers to call to check on list status.

Therefore, it looks like they won't be calling anyone until late December/early January. For me, I have a list # of 280* (which means my # is from 2800 to 2809), therefore if they go through 200 people a month, I won't be called for 14 months (2800 divided by 200 equals 14). If they go through 250 people a month, I won't get called for at least 11 months (since 250 x 11 = 2750, which is closer than 3000 [250 x 12]).

Thanks for the update YoungNYC. Best of luck to everyone on the list.

Does anyone know how many people were called from the previous track worker list?

I honestly don't know, but the Track Worker 5016 thread (http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/11393-any-updates-on-track-worker-exam-5016/) should help answer your question.

I really hope your calculations are true because this is a game changer for me. Reason being is that I'm on the train operators list and should start this month. and if I can hold out a little longer, it's a hell of a lot better position in my opinion. List #168X Edited by Allday

I would assume that they can't start our list until the previous list expires which is in March of 2015. Would I be correct in that assumption?

Was there an official announcement when 5016 expires? I saw no reference to it in the 5016 thread and activity seems to have died down on the thread as well.

We'll see what happens as time evolves...having NYC Transit call 200 people a month is just an estimated guess. If they go through more people per month, like 250 or 300, then the list will move faster. With the list being close to 12,500 people, the list will stay active for at least a few years.

Keep in mind also that everyone will not be successful, since they will either fail the drug test, medical, the first part of the training in the classroom, the second part of training in the field, etc. Therefore, 200 to 300 people a month does not sound a lot like originally expected.

In general, when a list expires, there is no official announcement.

I feel what you're saying. Obviously we're in a good position being on this list. My understanding is that a lot of people down there were w8n for the new contract before retiring hopefully that'll now speed up the list.

Good morning all!!!

I have been a silent watcher of this particular thread for some time now and I must say that you guys are great. The information provided and questions asked have been spot on. I had no need to ask anything, the answers were already here. LOL ... In any event I have decided to now let my voice be heard due to the list being published. My gosh is it a huge list !!! I scored a 95 and my list number is in the 2100 block. I'm assuming that with the sheer number of people on the list coupled with how slowly the previous list moved that it would be sometime before or even if my number were to be reached. Any thoughts?
