For all currently in school it's a good idea to get yourself a calender book, calendar, small notebook, etc. and keep track of where you worked, who the supervisor was and a brief description of what you did and most importantly your hours along with when you take off and whether it's a vacation day,OTO, PLD, sick with the operator number and time you called, etc.

Mainly just to make sure your hours are correct on your paycheck.

Payroll can get very confusing depending on your shift. For day personal it closes out 4pm on Saturday. Anything past 4 pm. goes on adjustment. If it's the last Saturday of the payweek you'll get it on next week's check and the checks are not easy to read with time keeping codes.

16th and 8th, capital nights. The whole class got X jobs, problem is there were allot of day jobs, both in maintenance and capital. The job I got there was only one spot. There were capital days spots at E180th st in the Bx. Allot of senior guys found out up there, and it started a shit storm. There is a chance the some, or all of the X jobs could go out to bid. I'm hoping that's not the case at least for my spot. There's an even mix of senior guys, and new guys in the gang I'm in, from looking at the pick book. Most of the low seniority number guys, have either the welder/burner spot, or the specialist operator spots.

I'm glad I did get a capital spot though. I've worked in construction most of my life, and the capital environment is more for me.

Are you still at 16th & 8th ave...That spot is available on the pick sheet

Guess we might be in the same batch. Keep me posted

Riellou, that list you got for employment history from SS, they printed it on the spot? I asked and the guy was like it'll take 3 months and arrives in the mail.

You have to go to SS office for a print out.... I did it here in CT and got it on the spot for $135

Sure thing. Will keep you posted. I went to the social security administration on 12th st and ave. C (NYC). There are other offices in the city and outer boros. I chose that one based on convenience. $115 is what you pay if you want your "detailed earnings statement" print-out. You can only pay by credit/debit card or money order...NO CASH!!! The statement will show the names, addresses, and years worked for past employers, but not the exact months so that you'll have to figure out on your own or possibly contact IRS if needed.

Thanks for the info. For all that, I'll just go off memory. Spoke to someone at Livingston today and he said "just put it down as best as you can remember" I know exactly who I worked for, and got the years down, just not the months.

Thats perfect then. If you have that info already, save yourself the $115.

Got back from 180 livingston today. Wasn't too bad. Got there at 6:50 am. Doors opened a little after 7am. Lab would have been quicker but i sat in the wrong waiting room for almost an hour until a lady at the counter redirected us.

Total time there: 4 hours
