Guest Lance Posted October 12, 2013 Share #151 Posted October 12, 2013 They'd have to bring in the 5 to run down 7th Ave. This way, 7th Ave still has direct Manhattan-Brooklyn service and riders don't have to transfer to other lines.
Eric B Posted October 12, 2013 Share #152 Posted October 12, 2013 So let me get this straight... After Chambers St, its going via the to the SF loops (skipping Rector & South Ferry in the process), then using the loop tracks to head up past Bowling Green (I'm assuming its skipping it going uptown), then stop at Wall St on either platform. ...Then the T/O would change ends and head back downtown towards Bowling Green again, then down to Brooklyn. This shit i have to see for myself. They've done this before.
Amtrak7 Posted October 12, 2013 Share #153 Posted October 12, 2013 I've never heard of changing ends with passengers on the train before...why aren't they running trains in 2 sections?
j express Posted October 12, 2013 Share #154 Posted October 12, 2013 This remind me when the first Manhattan Bridge shut down .he on weekend at the time was in Manhattan on Sixth Ave go toward Essex Street then reverse itself to get to the Montague Street Tunnel. I think it's the you are talking about.

Snowblock Posted October 12, 2013 Share #156 Posted October 12, 2013 CBTC signal work on the express tracks. Same reason for most GOs involving Queens Blvd, 53 and 63 St these days.
N6 Limited Posted October 13, 2013 Share #157 Posted October 13, 2013 Ahh, Interesting. Thanks. Will there be a situation where the Express tracks will be running on CBTC and the local tracks are still on the original signaling system (Forgot what its called)
j express Posted October 13, 2013 Share #158 Posted October 13, 2013 What are they doing in the Sea Beach line this weekend? I was riding the Manhattan bound N on the Sea Beach and see no work trains and no ungoing work this morning. Why reroute the vis the ? If there is barely any work going on.
S78 via Hylan Posted October 13, 2013 Share #159 Posted October 13, 2013 It could be anything: track work, signal work, etc. Just because we don't see anything happening doesn't mean there isn't work being performed.

Lol, I know what you're getting at with this, but I mean, if there are no visible workers on the track, it's not like there are invisible signal fairies getting to work...

AndrewJC Posted October 14, 2013 Share #162 Posted October 14, 2013 They've done this before. But not in many years, as far as I know. CBTC signal work on the express tracks. Same reason for most GOs involving Queens Blvd, 53 and 63 St these days. Not only has CBTC not been awarded on QBL yet, the CBTC spec hasn't even been defined yet. The QBL work is to modernize three interlockings - a prerequisite for CBTC, but not CBTC itself. Flushing is where the actual CBTC work is taking place these days.

Amtrak7 Posted October 17, 2013 Share #165 Posted October 17, 2013 This GO could be messy, especially if they don't add an express bus. A shuttle from Church to Church isn't that long... Also, I've never seen them put up major GO's this early. The minor ones usually come up first, while the FASTRACK's and stuff that requires a lot of typing and layout usually isn't put up until 2 weeks beforehand.

I looked at the track map and there is no connection between these stations how is it possible? The will run non-stop to Wall Street like this: 1) Switches from the express track to the local track before Chambers Streets, 2) Stops at Chambers Street and then runs to South Ferry, skipping every stop along the way, 3) Switches to the Lexington Avenue track after South Ferry, 4) Runs uptown via the NB Lexington track (still non-stop from Chambers) 5) Stops at Wall Street and reverses direction, unto the SB Lexington Avenue track (there's a crossover between Bowling Green and Wall Street), and into Brooklyn. I recall the flyers saying the will run non-stop between Chambers and Wall Street.

Guest Lance Posted October 24, 2013 Share #174 Posted October 24, 2013 A crew actually signed the train correctly. I've just seen them use the normal 241 St-Flatbush option and knock off all stops south of Wall St.
