Planned Subway Service Changes

trains will terminate at Rector St (presumably using the loop to turn around) on the weekends of 07.14 and 07.21. The weekend of 07.28 however, the will terminate at 14 Street, running express between Times Square and 14 Street during the daytime hours.

Today at 12pm, we are performing preventative maintenance on our signal system at Bergen St. The following service changes will be in effect on the , and  lines for up to one hour:  

There will be no train service south of Bedford-Nostrand Avs. Take a free shuttle bus making all stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and 4 Av-9 St, with a stop at Jay St-MetroTech.   

There will be no train service between 2 Av and 4 Av-9 St.   trains will stop along the   line between W 4 St-Washington Sq and Jay St-MetroTech.  

There will be no  train service at High St, Fulton St, Chambers St, Canal St or Spring St. Take an   or   train instead.

This is perhaps something that should take a whole weekend to do to make sure all components of the signal system are tested before they are placed back into service. An hour does not make any sense to me.

It was up there on the website before but it got removed as soon i checked later on.

They're probably running it via 63rd Street to replace the , which has to run via 53rd Street because of station renovations at 57 Street.

TRACK REPLACEMENT | Jul 23 - Aug 10, Mon to Fri, 11 AM to 3:30 PM (except Aug 1)
 Service operates every 16 minutes between Burnside Av and Woodlawn in the Bronx

The last stop for alternate trains from Manhattan is Burnside Av.

• Transfer at Burnside Av to continue your trip. 

 

Might as as well not run it at all with that abysmal headway. The  can barely handle 8 minutes during the summer as it is.

The subway is about to get freaky this weekend with planned subway service changes

No 1 Trains between rector street and south ferry. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between chambers street and south ferry

No 2 trains between 241st and gun hill rd. Free shuttle buses operate between gun hill rd and 241st

No 3 trains between 96st and 148th st . Free shuttle buses operate between 148th st and 135th st. 3 trains operate via the 1 from 96th street to 137th street (last stop)

No A trains between 168th street and 207th street. Free shuttle buses operate with two different routes. Broadway buses make all stops between 168th street and 207th street

Fort Washington av buses make all stops between 168th street and 190th street

No C trains between 145th street and 168th street

Bronx Bound D trains run via the N from Stillwell ave to 36th street in brooklyn

No E trains between queens plaza and world trade center. E trains are rerouted via the F from 21st queensbridge to Lex av/63rd st and via the r from 57th st-7th ave to Whitehall street (last stop)

The GO has been reposted. 

Seeing as all downtown service thru W4 on both 8 ave and 6 ave is on the respective express track, maybe it is for the W4 interlocking. 

Also, the weird routings are probably because of the lack of switches to the Rutgers tunnel after W4.

Since 6 Ave still needs service, the can run normally

The therefore can run via 53rd st/8 Ave express/Cranberry to Jay St and normal over Culver

To avoid the all sharing one track, the can replace the via 63rd then run via Broadway to Whitehall. 

Since the must run via 63rd/Bway in both directions, the uptown can go via 6 Ave local/53rd St to replace the (E). The side benefit being 57th/6 Ave is left clear for station work

I think the switcheroo is also in place due to the station rehab at 57 Street and the upcoming closure at 23 Street. The last time this service change was in place (Sept. 2017 if I'm not mistaken),  the ran to 34 St-Herald Sq via 6th Avenue while the ran via 53rd Street with downtown service rerouted via 8th Avenue/Cranberry. It's likely not beneficial to run the via 6th Avenue with ongoing station rehab work at those stops, hence this week's service reroute. It allows for service to continue via both 63rd Street and 53rd Street unimpeded.

I wonder, if SAS still wasn't open, how would they have done the 6th Av shutdown G.O's.

Either similar to how 57 St/6 Av was for when trains had to run to Manhattan on the weekend, or more likely, by extending the to Queensboro Plaza/Ditmars Blvd to keep it out of the way of through trains.

I would say the would have gone via 59th st instead of 63rd st if the 63rd st connection wasnt open. Similar to that Christmas weekend meltdown at the 53rd st interlocking a few years ago

This was just posted, right? I try to keep up with the station closures and this came out of nowhere, which is my main problem with the MTA's [lack of] communication. They'll promote the hell out of their half-finished beta site, but real information like this is hidden behind the planned services until the absolute last minute.

If anyone wants to know of any L train weekend suspensions, you can go on the mta.info website and go to where it says L train tunnel reconstruction and click on get details about the L recovery and resiliency work. Go to where it says view the plan for travel options and scroll all the way down to the third to last page and it lists all of the dates of when the L train is suspended for the weekends leading up to the tunnel reconstruction.(Weekend Preparatory work on the L line)
