Planned Subway Service Changes

That’s not true . If a  northbound (D) gets to 36 when (N) is leaving they make the (D) wait outside 36st . Not the ramp but not in the Station either . They got better with southbound trains waiting outside 36st for no reason whatsoever. It still happens though sometimes. Anyway normal service resumes next Monday

It's absolutely true... I've used 4th Avenue every morning and when both the (D) and (N) arrive in the station at the same time, it's common for both trains to sit for a while before one of them gets the line up.

Several times we were held beofre 36 while (N) was crossing . I was never in situation where northbound trains just sit till they figure out which one is first . But I don’t go rush maybe it’s more common then .

I’ve had (D) trains coming into the station and platforming fully as the (N) was slowly crawling out. It can definitely happen. How supervision decides when the (D) can pull in is a mystery to me though.

I'm also surprised (M) will run on CPW line replaces the (B) for not running on weekends. They should probably do that now on weekends until 11:30pm and then to 96 St/2 Av until 1am, because CPW local stop riders normal daytime riders need the extra help.

This is something I had suggested before with the (M) on a more permanent basis on weekends.  As much as I think the SAS benefits from having a 6th Avenue option, having the (M) run on weekends to 145/8 might be the better option.

Yes, but it is something long-term I'd be looking at doing as it would give CPW riders local 6th Avenue service seven days a week (albeit with a different letter weekends as opposed to weekdays) and can be extended to 161 for Yankees games or other events at the stadium.  Might confuse SOME riders but most would get used to having the (M) on weekends as opposed to the (B) on weekdays.

The (M) is like in identity crisis mode all the time. It just can’t settle on a “southern” terminal:

  • Regular service to:
    • Myrtle Avenue
    • Delancey Street–Essex Street
    • Canal Street
    • Chambers Street
    • Broad Street
    • 9 Avenue
    • Bay Parkway
    • Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue
    • Forest Hills–71 Avenue
  • Planned service changes to:
    • 96 Street
    • 145 Street

Any more to add to the list?

Yeah good luck running (A)(C)(D)(M) all on one track though flagging...that works out to, what, 4tph apiece?

So like 3 weekends a year. Gotcha.

I'm all for more service. But you've gotta consider context or propose reforms.

Before 2010, it was the north terminal (and it's on the top roll on rollsigns and not on the bottom roll)

Now it is the southern terminal and Forest Hills is the northern terminal

Well, if you mentioned emergencies, then every train has been everywhere. The notable part is that the MTA intentionally planned to put the (M) in so many places.
