No. It’s to avoid running the (W) since the (M) is already operating full-time into 96-2.

That means the (M) will have to run there overnight just to avoid having to either close those stations for a couple of periods or create needless inconsistency with the (Q)'s route.

Duh. Like I already said...the (M) is already operating full-time into 96/2...it did the same thing last weekend. It can do so again for the aforementioned weekend when the (7) is wiped out.

Not entirely true. They're doing work North of 57th Street on the Express Tracks for the next few weekends beginning next weekend including ADA installation related work.

And the (W) wouldn't have still been able to run regardless due to both (N) and (Q) Trains traveling via the Montague Tube southbound that weekend.

Why don't they extend (2) trains to 137th St anymore? Seems all they've done it have it terminate at 96th St.

The Lenox Av stations that will be shut down during the weekends listed are only both 148 St and 145 St on the (3). The rest of the Lenox Av corridor is not affected. Therefore, the entire (2) line (Wakefield-Flatbush) is not affected and will be running on its normal route/headway.

I know that, I was speaking about service changes where the (2) ends at 96th St.

96 St is a convenient terminal and it doesn’t get in the way of the (1).

Depends if the (2) is running local with the (1) in Manhattan during the day and evening hours, the former would need to relay and reverse direction. Fumigation takes up to 5 minutes, delaying through service.

Now if the (2) was still express, then the (1) is good. Even at night when the former is local, the latter is still good since both trains are 10 minutes apart in both directions all night long between 96 St and Chambers St.

I just went around Canal Street (bridge platform, southbound) telling people no trains serving the platform. Most people didn't move. Good luck to them. There are no (Q) trains, and the (N) is running via the tunnel.

Why didn't the MTA communicate this more effectively?? I did not see a single sign mentioning the (N) via tunnel.

They should have just made (N) operate both directions via Tunnel so there are less confusions.

Because now they have (N) trains running Downtown via Tunnel and Uptown via Bridge.

Putting up signs about weekend service changes at every station on a particular line reduces confusion, not by rerouting trains over a different route in either direction.

Done right, signs or a whiteboard can reduce confusion. Done wrong, signs can add confusion.

Case in point TfL have signs for planned work for the current time and upcoming weekend at each station and whiteboards that are updated every hour by staff with the service status.

According to the planned work section of the site, it seems like the Astoria Blvd being closed advisory disappears after December 18th. So I'm guessing the opening date is the 19th?

Looks far from being done. Elevators haven't been installed yet.

So that's the new MTA thing then. Declaring things done when they clearly aren't.
