Lawrence St Posted June 8, 2017 Share #1426 Posted June 8, 2017 I still don't know how this track operation between Myrtle-Wycofff and Middle Village is going to work. Are they going to wrong rail shuttles on both tracks? How long are these shuttles going to run (TPH)? Also, won't having Broadway Junction as a terminal with only one track to terminate on gonna limit the trains along Sixth and QBL?
Lance Posted June 8, 2017 Share #1427 Posted June 8, 2017 Basically every other train ends at 57 Street The page for the work: http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/MyrtleAvenue/MyrtleRebuildingProcess.html#phase1 <pics removed> Also is it just me or did they change it to look similar to the governor's website? I noticed that. I do wish they'd commit to a theme though. This ever-growing hodgepodge of mismatched themes throughout the various agencies' sites need to go. Of course, the dated design of the MTA's site does not help matters either, but that's another story. I imagine the shortened Myrtle Ave shuttle will be single-tracked. There are no switches near Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and unless that is what they've been doing during these weekend closures, I don't see the MTA adding one in the next few weeks. As for the main terminating at Broadway Junction, the station will likely operate as 57 Street did for those times the ran into Manhattan on the weekend - trains will head into the station and immediately make the return trip to 71 Avenue or Essex St without delay.

That won't work. The has to terminate at Broadway Junction Middle Track and that would caused switching delays right there.

This is for regular track replacement work north of east Broadway.
Dj Hammers Posted June 9, 2017 Share #1432 Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) On an unrelated note, there is a pretty interesting GO coming up for the weekend of July 1/2.. A switch that is rarely used, especially for a terminal operation, will be in operation. It won't be as cool as the D/F swap, but it'll definitely be interesting! RestrictOnTheHanger Posted June 9, 2017 Share #1436 Posted June 9, 2017 Is it because the is terminating at Hoyt-Schermerhorn? (Actually, how is that going to work...?) That one isnt particularly interesting. For that GO, trains run normal between Bedford and Court Sq, with a single track shuttle Bedford to Hoyt. There is no switch at Hoyt

A division Is it one of these? http://travel.mtanyct.info/serviceadvisory/routeStatusResult.aspx?tag=ALL&date=07/02/2017&time=&method=getstatus4 It's not posted yet, although one of the service diversions listed right now on the website has a very subtle hint about this interesting GO under its "travel alternatives" section.
LongLiveRock Posted June 10, 2017 Share #1438 Posted June 10, 2017 Oh, is it because only uptown service is available in Lower Manhattan, meaning ®s must be running over the bridge downtown, meaning the switch from the bridge tracks at DeKalb to 4th Ave local will be used?

RestrictOnTheHanger Posted June 11, 2017 Share #1442 Posted June 11, 2017 Im gonna say it's the short-turning somewhere south of Franklin, (5)s turning at Franklin itself, or less likely the turning at Franklin Ave for the below reasons - late night GO lists transfers to the at 59th and 168th, implying the is not turning anywhere between Times Sq and Dyckman -Out of system transfer under the GO lists the and at Rector, implying and to South Ferry, thus it cannot be Wall St switch being used - is running normal above 14th, is running its full route with extension to new lots
