It looks like the other shoe has dropped for the eastern Queens Blvd shutdown.

 

No trains between Queens Plaza and 71 Av

 trains provide alternate service

Weekends, Saturday and Sunday, Jul 8 - 9  •  Jul 15 - 16

service operates between Bay Ridge-95 St and Queens Plaza.

For local service in Queens, take the  or  instead.
  
• Transfer between  and  trains at Queens Plaza.
• Transfer between  and  trains at 34 St-Herald Sq.

Notes:  trains run local between Queens Plaza and 71 Av all weekend.
             trains run local between 36 St and 71 Av all weekend.

Despite being listed for only two weekends, this service is in effect every weekend next month with the exception of July 1. The weekend of the 22nd, service will run to 9 Avenue for ongoing station rehab work.

 

On a separate note, I really wish the MTA would figure out how they're running the and trains during the Clark St closure. Are trains running to Dyre Av as per the special schedules or what?

I'm aware that some changes have not been posted for late July, but I will update them as we progress through the month.

 

And a quick reminder to those who are aware of the major changes coming up: Not everyone follows up on the planned weekend work as most of us here do, so do not harshly criticize anyone if they are surprised about a certain GO or reroute. With that being said:

 

Long-term Major routes from now through Spring 2018:

No service in Brooklyn; Provides alternate service

Service operates between Forest Hills and Broadway Junction, weekdays. Weekends, between Essex St and Broadway Junction. Late nights, no service. Note: Beginning Sept 1, Shuttle service will run between Metropolitan Ave and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

 

 

No service north of 137 St July: 22-24, 29-31

Daytime reduced service north of 137 St: July 15-16

No service north of East 180 St: July 22-24, 29-31

Operates between 241 St and South Ferry: July 1-3

Split service at 125 St; Local service in Manhattan: July 1-3, 15-17

No service north of 86 St: July 1-3

Split service at East 180 St; (Section 1 between 241 St and E 180 St) (Section 2: Between Dyre Av and Flatbush Av): July 8-9

Split service at 125 St: July 22-24, 29-31

via Rutgers tube, both directions: July 8-10, 15-17

No service East of 71 Av; local in Queens: July 8-10, 15-17, 22-24, 30-31

I'll do you one better.

 

is single tracking between Schermerhorn and Bedford. To ride to Queens, you gotta change trains. They have signs saying all service is on the Queens-bound platform.

 

Why do they have handwritten signs telling people that the local track goes to Schermerhorn? Because someone at thought passengers would just 'figure it out.'

Actually the will still go to Dyre, albeit on a 12 minute headway (normal headway is 8)

 

: Dyre-South Ferry, 12 minute headways

: Dyre-Flatbush, 12 minute headways

shuttle : 241st St-E 180th St, 12 minute headways

 

Only the shuttle trains will terminate at East 180th Street. I'm guessing the 2/5 from Manhattan could switch back to the local track after West Farms Square in order to let the shuttles turn on M track.

Lance, I assume you are a regular train rider. I just want to ask why do they always switch the and Bronx terminals whenever the Clark Street tubes shut down? Any particular reason? I honestly find that setup weird. They should just keep the and Bronx terminals the same rather than confuse passengers.

The routes are run as they are to keep the train crews on the appropriate routes. The from 241 Street to Flatbush Av is a similar length to its 7th Avenue counterpart and thus will run with line crews. Similarly, the route from Dyre Av to South Ferry is close enough to the normal route to Bowling Green that it will use the normal line crews. It's more beneficial for the train crews than it is for the riders. With that said, Dyre Ave riders are making out like bandits with almost 24/7 Bronx - Manhattan service through either the weekday or weekend .

The routes are run as they are to keep the train crews on the appropriate routes. The from 241 Street to Flatbush Av is a similar length to its 7th Avenue counterpart and thus will run with line crews. Similarly, the route from Dyre Av to South Ferry is close enough to the normal route to Bowling Green that it will use the normal line crews. It's more beneficial for the train crews than it is for the riders. With that said, Dyre Ave riders are making out like bandits with almost 24/7 Bronx - Manhattan service through either the weekday or weekend .

The is extended to Bowling Green late Friday evenings(10:13, 10:26, 10:38, 10:48) but not early Monday mornings(4:02, 4:22, 4:42) for some reason. Might as well plug the gap in service at Bowling Green from 4:57 to 6:18 and keep the running instead of having extra trains running to both 241 and Dyre at the same time. Also having Dyre shuttles running with trains to Dyre is a waste.

Babylon Branch and Long Beach, not every train stops on those branches stops at those two stations on weekends though.

I feel there's gonna be a conga line at 71st ave because of the frequency of and service. 

Also, are they doing any fastrack type repairs to the stations "north" of 71st Ave? It would make sense.

The LIRR train time app is really useful for times/branches and prices.
