Sea Beach line customers or riders heading to Coney Island will want to carve out a bit of extra time for their beach days this summer: The final phase of a massive $395.7 renovation project at nine n.png stations will begin at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 31, with the Coney Island-bound platforms at those stations closed to service.

During the renovations, southbound n.pngtrains will run express from 8 Av to Coney Island-Stillwell, stopping at 8 Av and Bay Pkwy where temporary platforms will be set up to allow customers to transfer to northbound trains for service to the affected stations. Customers can use nearby stations on the d.png and f.png lines.

Southbound N trains will not stop at these stations at all hours from Monday, July 31, to late 2018:

  • Fort Hamilton Pkwy
  • New Utrecht Av
  • 18 Av
  • 20 Av
  • Kings Hwy

unless, the MTA decides to implement artificial delays at 59 Street and Bay Parkway like it did for years with the northbound (N) trains.

Thank the lord for cross honoring at Jamaica Station. Way better than any shuttle bus. You don't even have to flash a Metrocard with full fare on it!

There were conductors who knew about the cross-honoring. Maybe some weren't aware, but the conductors on the train I was on last week knew.

My family is planning on using the cross-honoring to get to Penn Station. We are going to a Liberty game so it will be convenient. Will showing one MetroCard amongst us work?

To be safe, use one per person. Don't even have to be anything on it lol

Really? Do they have to do this while the LIRR is going through Penn Station repairs? Adding more mess.

This work was planned far before the Amtrak work was planned.

This work can only be done in the summer, because summers have lower ridership.

If this is delayed by a year, it'll end up delaying a bunch of other projects (CBTC, etc) for another year as well

Sigh, why not just nights and weekends as usual...now the (E)(F)(M)(R) are gonna experience more delays around 71st Avenue...

So we're adding the (E) to the (M) & (R) conga line at Forest Hills? Oh, joy... <_<

Lol its like what would happen if (G) trains went to Forest Hills without a Queens bypass.

We're also adding the (F). They worded the (F) advisory differently than the (E) one but they both mean the same thing.

Actually, what I would be doing here is to replace the (D) in Manhattan and the Bronx with a re-routed (M), running regular route to 47-50 and then via the (D) to 205.  You could have enhanced (M) service for this.

Replace a line that has 600' trains with one that has only 480'? You're bugging....

Yeah, you're gonna have all of 6th Avenue and Concourse coming at you with pitchforks...

That (D) train carries on the weekends and one could argue the current 600' train isn't sufficient enough...

But what about the joy of sending the (M) to virgin territories?

Just run the dam (R) to Coney Island...

The TA is not doing that likely because they do not want to confuse the hell out of West End riders, most of who cannot read or speak English well. Recall that G.O. where the (D) and (F) swapped routes in Brooklyn back in February. I found dozens of Chinese folks at Atlantic Avenue and 36th Street waiting for a (D) and wondering why it was not coming and what the (F) was doing there. If I had not told them the (F) was taking the (D) 's place, who knows how long they would have waited there. I do not think they will ever do that again.

I do not think there are enough cars to extend the (M) via Central Park West and Concourse anyway.

"So we're adding the  (E) to the  (M) &  (R) conga line at Forest Hills? Oh, joy...  <_<"

I am actually surprised they can terminate three different services at Forest Hills at the same time.

The idea is to eliminate the need to terminate trains at 2nd Avenue.

This way, the (M) can run in place of the (D) and you have one line running instead of two shorter ones.  The (D) would simply be a Brooklyn-only service for the weekend while the (M) takes its place on CPW and in The Bronx.

And you can if needed borrow some trains from the (J) to make up the extra service on the (M)

Second avenue will be fine. It's only 6tph. That's one train per track every 20 minutes.

Also, that's a recognizable service pattern. D to Barclays/2nd Ave has been done before.

So in turn they get even more crowded trains? No thanks...

I'd just run the (D) from 205 St to 59 St, then via the (C) to West 4 St, then (F) to 2 Av

The (R) runs from Forest Hills to 36 St then via the (D) to Coney Island and late nights from Whitehall St to 36 St, then via the  (D) to Coney Island instead of being suspended.

Short, sweet and to the point.

Thats basically more of a (D) Train route than the (R) for the late nights and was done for a weekend/late night G.O before which is why running the (R) between Whitehall Street and Coney Island (Late Nights) is too confusing.
