6 Lexington Ave Posted August 15, 2012 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2012 Due to the derailment of a non passenger train in Atlantic Terminal, service between Jamaica and Brooklyn is suspended. NYC Transit is honoring LIRR fares between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica, as well as Atlantic Terminal and Penn Station. This affects all branches except the Port Washington Branch. UPDATE: LIRR is restoring limited half hourly service between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica. Some PM Peak trains will be canceled due to limited track access as the result of an earlier derailment. Amtrak7 Posted August 19, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 19, 2012 What happened? Picked a switch? Likely, given the complex switch layout and 5mph speed limit in the terminal.
Jamaica Line Posted August 19, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 19, 2012 Likely, given the complex switch layout and 5mph speed limit in the terminal. wow 5 mph speed limit...? But this isn't the first time I've heard of a derailment at this station. Anyone knows how many times that has happened there?
Brighton Express Posted August 20, 2012 Share #7 Posted August 20, 2012 wow 5 mph speed limit...? I would say anywhere from 2-5 for entering a terminal station.
