Why did some trips start in the Bronx? I heard it ran some trips to the Bronx, but I couldn't understand why, if it's based out of Lenox and New Lots Yards. Was it sharing some R62s with the (I vaguely remember some R62s of them running on the )?

Probably layed up at 239 st yard. They still send 3's to/from the yard [not in service though] daily. I guess back then they just put them in service.

Those trains used to start at 137 St Broadway until 2001, then started leaving E 180 St in service S/B. The N/B trains never went to the Bronx in service until after 9/11 changed service (which is what you see above). After service went back to normal in September 2002, the only left the Bronx in service in the morning from E 180 St (the last 4 N/B trains then went back OOS from 96 St or 135 St to E 180). The S/B Bronx service was likely eliminated by early 2004.

The goes up the WPR for Car wash, not layup. There isn't room at 239th to store it, since its mostly (2)s and equipment with other stuff around. (3)s chill at Lenox and Livonia Yard.
