Planning a trip to NYC

Hello,

I'm from Chicago and I'm visiting NYC for a day in late September, while I'm there I plan on doing some bus fanning. I'm flying into LGA in the morning and plan on taking the M60 or Q72 from the airport to the subway to go into Lower Manhattan.

The main bus I would like to photograph is the RTS, does anyone you know which routes in Manhattan have the RTS? or are they just mixed in Orion VII's?

Also, I know the M60 is mostly Nova artics, but what bus types run on the Q72?

Thank you for the help...

Well when I took the M104 it was half RTS's, but I know for a fact that the M66/72 are all RTS's.

You can check these TTMG links.

This one for MTA and NICE rosters:

http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Transportation_Operator_Primers

This one for the Bus rosters:

http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Fleet_Roster

And this one for the depot rosters:

http://www.ttmg.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=MTA_Regional_Bus_Operations_Depot_Roster

If you check the last link and go to the Depots, you'll see that the following depots have RTS buses. Since each depot houses different lines, you'll see those depot's buses on those lines:

Manhattan:

- 126th Street Depot has RTS buses, and runs the following routes: M15, SBS M15, M31, M35, M60, M116 and X80. I have seen some RTS buses on the M60, so maybe if you're lucky you can catch one at the airport on the M60.

- Michael J. Quill Depot has RTS buses, and runs these routes: M8, M9, M14A & D, M20, M21, M22, M23, SBS M34, M42, M50, M57, M66, M72, M79, M86, M98, M104. My advice is to check the M8, M20, M42, M50 and the M57 since I have seen RTS buses on those routes, especially the M42. There's really no chance for one popping out on the M14.

The Q33, Q48, Q72 and M60 go to LaGuardia Airport. The Q33 and Q72 belong to LaGuardia Depot, which has RTS buses. That means that you might catch an RTS on the Q33 and the Q72.
